Imagine full digital cable, with all of the basic and specialty channels you could ever want, high-definition performance for breathtaking picture and sound, and a built-in hard drive personal video recorder (PVR) to give you absolute control over how and when you enjoy your viewing. Rogers' 8300HD PVR digital cable box gives you all of that, and more.

Incredible High Definition Picture and Sound
Your digital cable box is ready for the HDTV broadcasts, and has digital audio and video connections, including HDMI (backwards compatible with DVI), component video and digital optical audio output, along with standard RCA A/V outputs. Your HD programming comes as widescreen 16:9 images at a vertical resolution of up to 1080 interlaced lines (1080i). This is far more than standard analogue or digital program for clear, sharp images. You also get CD-quality audio with AC-3 Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Just connect your cable box to an all-digital HDTV or HDTV-ready set and a surround sound receiver. You can also up/down convert the output capability to 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i or native output.

PVR: Does It All, and Easy to Use
The PVR uses a built-in 160 GB hard drive to record up to 20 HD/90 SD hours of your programming and offers two digital tuners for decoding the signals. The hard drive system lets you easily program the recorder with the on-screen guides, pause live TV broadcasts to replay a scene and then scan ahead to catch up to the live feed, all without tapes. It also offers screen stretch and zoom functionality.

The great thing about the PVR is that it's always recording, so even if you didn't know you wanted to save a program or replay a scene, it's automatically on your hard drive. When the program's done, you can keep it, or let the PVR replace it later on with other content. The drive can record up to 90 hours of standard content and 20 hours of HD content.

The two tuners are great if there are two shows on at once and you want to see them both. Just record one while watching the other, or record both and watch something else you'd recorded earlier. With the PVR, you can pause live programming and enjoy instant replay. With digital cable, you get far more channels than analogue, including a number exclusively available for digital broadcast. Enjoy up to 24 HD channels.

You can also take advantage of on-screen program guides (7-day IPG) that let you plan your viewing with the press of a button, parental controls to protect your kids, and a variety of useful interactive features, including program reminders, one-touch pay-per-view, and more than 2000 titles on Rogers on Demand. There' picture in picture viewing, even if your TV isn't set up for it, and a handy indicator to tell you how much room you have left on the hard drive, plus a digital SATA (Serial ATA) connection to use for external hard drive storage.

Change Channels, Change Time Zones
If one program conflicts with another, use your PVR to search for another broadcast of the show at a more convenient time on another channel, or even in another time zone. The cable box uses Rogers' cross-Canada network, so you can find your show in any time zone that's served by Rogers.
