Almost anything you plug in can be controlled from your smartphone that sends signals to WeMo switches via your home Wi-Fi network.

If you want the lights to come on while you’re out at night or the coffee ready when you wake up in the morning, it’s easy to set up a schedule so that appliances, lights, heaters or whatever you want turns on and off at certain times.

At the heart of the WeMo system is the WeMO Switch. This easy-to-use and easy-to-set up little piece of technology allows you to plug almost anything into it, and then control it with the WeMo app on your iPhone. And the system is completely modular. If you’re tired of people forgetting to turn the lights off when they leave the room, the WeMo Motion sensor can help you out. Just connect it to a WeMo switch and lights, appliances, and electronics turn on and perform their tasks when you get near them, and turn off when you leave. And with a smart service called IFTTT (If This Then That), you can get an e-mail if your front door motion sensor is triggered, or set your lights to go on when the sensor detects the sun setting.
