Terrible

I bought this kettle after the first stainless steel kettle I had was extremely hot to touch. This Hamilton Beach kettle was the only kettle that I read was actually not as hot to touch as the others. And that is correct. However, the design is terrible and it leaks EVERYWHERE when you pour. Water pours out from all directions of the so called spout. You also can't see the "max" line inside the kettle, if you are concerned about that. Can't wait to throw it out and go back and buy the other one again! At least the hot water was in my mug and not all over the counter and floor.

My second one!

I brought the first one about 5 years ago. I brought this because there is no plastic touching the water insider the kettle when it is boiling the water. Only the strainer and the lid are the plastic the water will touch before your cup. The strainer crumbled in about 2 months, the plastic part of the lid was crumble in about the 3rd to 4th year. We then us a substitute lid. And the base was burned off around the fifth year. I brought the second one recently for it has no plastic inside the kettle, fast boiling and not so hot on the kettle surface. But we start off not using the strainer and the lid to avoid drinking the crumble plastic. Otherwise, it is a very good kettle. Now I am using both kettle together with one base. Hint: Try not to turn the kettle when it is seating on the base.

Cool Kettle!

Preliminary review. I've owned this kettle for a few days and it's been great so far. The only problem I had was with the 'cool down' sticker on the side of the kettle. After removing the sticker, it left a sticky residue and a stain. I used WD40 and some serious elbow grease and it came off completely.

Excellent Kettle

The only kettle I have found with no plastic parts inside and with a double wall. There are some stupid design flaws though: the base is unstable, the switch flimsy, handle poorly attached to the kettle, it will not turn off automatically when you remove it from the base, the lid closing mechanism is cheap, and the filter does not appear to be removable. If you can tolerate these defects and want a good looking and 100% stainless steel kettle that won't burn you and keeps water warm after boiling...this is the one.

Pour & Drip

Nice design, heats water quickly, but like another reviewer, this thing drips when pouring water out - with cover open or closed. Ridiculous design flaw. The water curls over the end of the spout and drips off the bottom of the kettle. You have to pour the water out really fast with the bottom above the top so water doesn't drip down. I'm going to contact the manufacturer.

Great Kettle

I've had this kettle for years and it is wonderful. It does not scale up like other kettles. I've actually just purchased a second one while they are available so that when the first one dies I have a replacement.

Good Quality and Price but a few missing features

Have had the kettle for about a month or so, and it heats water very quickly, has an auto shut off, a great look, and I like the fact that you can fill the kettle without dealing with a dangling electrical cord. the kettle does not have a fill indicator, so I never know how much water is in the kettle. Filling the kettle is a little tricky withe flip open top, not a lot of room to get the water in without splashing. And If you fill the kettle too much, the flip open top is actually in the water before you close it.

Best all stainless steel kettle I've found to date

I wanted a kettle without any plastic in the interior. Almost all the "stainless steel" kettles I've found have a stupid little volume indicator, made on cheap flexible plastic. This is one of the few kettles with an entirely stainless steel interior. No holes, pipes, or other spots for liquid to move to and cool. This model is also cheap enough that I bought 4 of them for crafts and other projects. When combined with a heavy duty rheostat, it works great for melting chocolate, wax for candles, even hot glue. I have several of these and not one has failed. The seamless interior and easily removable lid makes cleanup (and de-calcification) simple and very fast.

the handle fell into pieces

It's been a few days since I received it. I was pouring water into a cup and the handle felt weird and when I released the handle from my hand, it broke into two big pieces and some other little pieces jumped from there...

first impressions

I wanted to post a very preliminary observation since I just purchased this kettle and boiled the first couple of cups of water. I agree with most other reviewers about the size being on the large side even though the volume is on the low side. However, I did not have any issues with the spout dripping as one reviewer mentioned. It looks like it is designed to prevent dripping so perhaps there has been an update in design? I also didn't find it a problem pouring as long as you keep the flow at a reasonable rate ie. keep the water in the little "grove" of the spout. The removable flip lid is pretty cool and which gives easy access for cleaning. Time will tell if the hinge mechanism will last. There was a comment about the plastic bar on the back of the kettle getting hot. I did not find this to be the case for me. It was warm but definitely not uncomfortably so. One disappointment is that the "cool touch" exterior still gets quite warm. Definitely not painfully hot like my last steel kettle that was not double walled but still not "cool" by any stretch. Probably more due to my high expectation of the "cool touch" term than anything else.

I like it

Boils water fast, not plastic inside, easy to clean and keep it cleandue to simple desings. one down point, when you pour water too fast, they go everwhere. just have to pour slower. but good looking, great for price.

Drips all over the place

Yes, it boils very quickly. It has concealed heating element. Great. Whenever I pour it it drips all over the place. In fact, this is a DEFECT in design. You have no idea how many people return this product because of this SERIOUS design flaw.

Great Kettle

We purchased this kettle 8 months ago and are extremely happy with it. It boils water very quickly. The water is not directly exposed to plastic on the inside, unlike many other kettles on the market.
