The smallest Profressional Camera

I read all the review make me feel unfair with this camera. I'm using D90, I bought this camera becoz I wish to have a easy carry DSLR when I go travel. After I used few hours. Compare D3100 with my D90, I would say D3100 have the same level and function. That really make me suprise. Coz I bought my D90 almost $800, now D3100 only half price. You can take same qulity picture. I saw some people give bad comment [....when I use few hours.....]. That really make me feel sad. Coz I start with Film SLR camera, all the teacher told me. Different Camera Brand, Model, Len.....have different style. We need to study with your camera. When I read the bad comment or complain, that really make me feel [ Why didn't get a Point and shoot with profressional function?] I use my D3100 with a Sigma 70-300mm DG lens(both have bad comment about auto focus slow or out of focus). I can use auto Focus to take Bird. That all depend how you set and use your camera. If you looking for your first DSLR Camera. Don't let the bad comment scare you. D3100 is a very good beginner camera of DSLR. Now I can bring a small bag carry my D3100 go travel. But if you are beginner, I will suggest buy one more telephoto zoom lens. 1 camera with 2 lens, you can polish your skill to create your magic moment.

Very pleased!

This is my first time purchasing a camera that isn't point-and-shoot. It is a great transition, easy to use, and takes very clear and beautiful shots!

Excellent Camera

I just wanted a beginner camera and was deciding between this and the [...]. I bought this to try it out and it's amazing - especially for the price. All I need is some additional lenses and I'm set to go. I definitely recommend this takes great pictures. Only issue is the zoom noise for the video, but I can ignore that as I am mainly into photography. GET THIS CAMERA

Great camera

Have returned to photography after many years and bought this to enter the new digital world. Worth the money - have purchased additional lenses. The only problem I have is the manual - it is not as complete as it could be and does reference another manual that is not included. Pictures are great - auto focus excellent - except in the dark (ref previous statement) where you will have trouble with any camera.

Nikon D3100; A fantastic first

Well I must say that the Nikon D3100 is an amazing camera. Entering the photography world, the D3100 was my first Nikon brand camera and DSLR. I've now had mine since December 2010 and I've found no serious problems with it. The battery life continues to work splendidly and the image quality is very good and sharp with the help of the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my camera. Colours on my shots come out with nice contrast and vibrance. Occasionally I'll get an under exposure in Aperture priority mode, but it's nothing that can't be tweaked easily on the computer. I don't know if this is a standard issue to other cameras of my model, but the D3100 will freeze after long exposure shots requiring me to restart my camera once the shutter has closed. Perhaps it's only a glitch with my camera. Other than that minor issue, the D3100 is certainly one of the most fantastic cameras I've ever used. I recommend this to any aspiring photographer/ hobbyist.
