Startech did its job right

Excellent Product. My cousin's PC died, but I wanted to see whether his hard drive was active. This device did the trick and the hard drive was active and working. I was able to recover all the data that he had lost and transfer it over to his new PC. Would definitely recommend for any IT Technician.

Works great

Had a Win7 hard drive that Win8 would not read. Easy to use and it worked great. This is an awesome tool all computer techs should have.

Works great.............as long as....

With the disk/drivers this works fabulous. Recently went to use it at a friend's, and thought I'd just download the drivers once there (forgot the disk/but most installs are online). Nothing on the website but pdf manuals. That's my only complaint, and it is not against the product, more so the manufacturer for having a poor site vs. most other companies and their products/on-line support.

Works Great

Very easy to use. Worked great. I used it as my old laptop died, I was impressed by the ease of getting the information off of my old hardrive.

Great tool for a Computer Repair Tech

I used it to connect all four types of internal hard drives (2.5inch IDE, SATA & 3.5inch IDE, SATA) to a USB port. Saves you from having to open your PC's case, mount the HDD and connect it to the motherboard. It even works with internal CD & DVD drives!

Very helpful

Easy to use. Plug the drive in - start the power. Connect USB and voila you have access to the drive. Have used it for the last 4 years and have not had any issues. Needed to buy a new one recently. Power cord defective.

worked fine - right out of the box

pretty much plug n play; although came with drivers, it worked like any USB ex-hard drive. It came with all kinds of power cords witch I thought a little unusual but handy if I need to go to Europe or China lol. if it didn't work for the other clients, maybe their SATA drives are shot? or that they are not plugging the cords in correctly? Even one of my failing drives works fine with the adapter.. Could be the other clients really do have a faulty item

DoA

Not much to say. Unit arrived DoA. Tech support was competent and quick using on-line chat tool. Chat tool itself intermittently cut out half the typing.

Didn't work

Simply didn't work. After connecting all the cables, the power and USB LEDs were lit, but the SATA LED remained dark. My computer couldn't read any data. Tech support is a joke.

StarTech USB 2.0 to SATA IDE Adapter (USB2SATAIDE)

The product is quite handy. I was suggested this product when my hard drive died and it saved me a couple hundred dollars having to pay to get data retrieved when it was as simple as this. I am not overly techie at all but find the product to be pretty easy for anyone to use. I would recommend to anyone.

excelant product

After using a friends Startech I bought my own, invalueable to anyone who had the need to retrieve info from a hard drive with the ease of simply hooking it to a usb port. Will support hard drives and cd/dvd roms, I would never want to find myself without one again.
