Future Shop is dedicated to being a positive and responsible member of every community where we do business.
The following is a brief overview of how Future Shop strives to have a meaningful impact on the quality of life for children,
families and our employees.
Future Shop's culture and values embrace community involvement.
We are committed to kids and community, supporting non-profit organizations that help youth develop their skill set,
discover their talents and sustain a lasting interest in their education.
Future Shop also supports employee volunteerism through an internal recognition program called the Community Partner Award.
This award provides a corporate grant on behalf of an employee or a group of employees to the registered
Canadian charity that they volunteer or fundraise for.
Future Shop Supports the United Way
Future Shop is proud to support the United Way through an annual employee driven campaign.
The campaign, which runs in September, provides employees with an opportunity to get involved and help make a difference
in their community by supporting their local United Way.
Future Shop and Regroupement des Maisons de jeunes du Québec (RMJQ)
For RMJQ, education is the central value. The 135 clubs work with Quebec youth aged 12 - 18 to promote prevention, health and social education. They're goal is simple - make young people responsible, autonomous and active.
Future Shop supports RMJQ youth through a $20,000 sponsorship program designed to inspire and reward educational pursuits. Clubs are challenged to produce an educational project that falls within one of the organizations five values, namely:
- Local community involvement
- Ecological, green living
- Overseas humanitarian pursuits
- Learning
- Peer respect, including language, bullying and taxing
This partnership allows Future Shop, who have operated stores in the province for over a decade, to reach deeper into Quebec communities.
Future Shop Supports Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada
Future Shop is committed to helping Canadian youth gain access to the education and resources they need to become leaders
for the future and as such formed a national partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada in 2001.
With over 100 community-based Clubs across the country, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is one of the country's
leading youth organizations, and is committed to providing services and support to close to 150,000 children and youth.

The partnership between Future Shop and Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is a great fit as it provides opportunities for youth in local communities across the country. This partnership has continued to evolve over the past four years as we continue to find ways to positively impact clubs and club members. This year our partnership features two distinct programs.

Future Leaders: Scholarships for Today's Youth
For the fourth consecutive year, Future Shop awarded 55 Boys and Girls Club members from across Canada with post-secondary scholarships valued at $3,000 each. These scholarships recognize current or former Boys and Girls Club members for their dedication to their club, their commitment to education and their contribution to their community.
With the announcement of the 2004 recipients in May, this program will have awarded 220 scholarships and has helped Canadian youth pursue their post-secondary goals. Future Shop is the largest private sector sponsor of Boys and Girls Club scholarships in the country. To read more about some previous Future Leaders scholarship recipients, click here.
Future Grants
In 2004, Future Shop launched a new program with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada to provide resources to clubs across the country. Through Future Grants, clubs can apply for $1000 grants of Future Shop product for club programs or fundraising initiatives.

Individual Donations & Sponsorship Requests
In an effort to maximize the company's national programs with the United Way and Boys and Girls Clubs we are unfortunately unable to support the many individual requests received from worthy organizations for financial or product donation support.
The only exception to this is a small amount of software related merchandise (maximum value of $50) that is occasionally made available for donation to fundraising activities that support the education and development of Canadian youth.
Examples of the organizations that may qualify for this type of donation include:
- Non-profit organizations involved in the education of youth aged 5-18
- Schools
Organizations that match the criteria outlined above are welcome to forward their written request to the Community Relations Department via fax at (604) 412-5267 or mail at:
Community Relations Department
8800 Glenlyon Parkway
Burnaby, B.C. V5J 5K3
Please ensure that the request includes a return address. Organizations must submit their request a minimum of four weeks prior to their event.
As we receive a large volume of requests we appreciate your understanding should we be unable to accommodate you and thank you for thinking of Future Shop.
Organizations that DO NOT fit within Future Shop's donation guidelines are:
- Political organizations
- Religious organizations
- Health-related causes
- Sport related causes
- Individuals or private foundations
- Veteran, fraternal or labour organizations
