Android Tablets: Customize Your Portable Computing Experience
When you hear the phrase “tablet computer” you might think of the iPad, but there’s a whole world of touchscreen tablets out there to consider which run the Android operating system. Android has a slick, easy-to-use interface and is very customizable, letting you personalize the overall interface so it looks and works just the way you want it. You can even add widgets to the home screen – “widgets” are small apps that provide immediate information and functionality, like showing you the weather forecast or giving you a quick glimpse at your daily calendar. Many Android tablets can run Flash so you can browse all your favourite websites without limits.
The Android Market is the main source for apps, with over 400,000 to choose from. With that many apps available, you can browse an incredibly wide selection of games, work tools, news readers, utilities, and much more.
Android tablet computers are built by many different manufacturers like ASUS, Samsung, Archos, Toshiba, Lenovo, Sony, Gateway, Motorola, and HTC. They come in different sizes, with screen dimensions ranging from 7” to 10” (measured diagonally). Some Android tablets have unique features like docking keyboard stations, slide-out keyboards, 3D displays, and full-size HDMI ports for connecting to your HDTV.
