As a parent, or should I say, as a hippie-at-heart parent, I’m not a fan of technology for small kids. There’s so much stimulation in our world – everything blinks, makes noise and doesn’t last more than three minutes.But...Unfortunately or fortunately, my daughter is growing up in these technology rich times and my role as a parent is to introduce her to technology and maybe show her how to deal with it all. As much as I would wish it, sheltering my child is not the answer. Technology can be addictive, but exposure to it is inevitable. Giving them the tools to manage technology at an early age will help prevent them going bonkers when not supervised so they don't end up playing PlayStation for 5 days straight (Note that any similarity to someone you know is entirely unintended). For this particular reason I got quite excited to give my daughter the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch to play with and see what happens …

It all comes down to keeping your child safe. As a parent, or as someone who cares for children, it’s your duty to stay up-to-date with the latest information on child safety. One of Transport Canada’s biggest recommendations for keeping kids safe on the road is to pay close attention to the expiry date on your child’s car seat.
