Large-sized Luggage: Load Up For Longer Trips
When it comes to luggage size definitely matters, especially if you’re going on a trip longer than a week, or if you need to bring a lot of stuff with you. Choose a large-sized bag, which is generally classified as being 27” (69cm) or more along its longest side, and you’ll have plenty of space for all your gear, or for lots of shopping, if that’s your thing.
When your luggage or suitcase is this big, weight and portability are a major consideration so look for bags with large, durable polyurethane inline skate wheels, which are great for almost any surface. If maneuverability is more important to you, go for spinner wheels that can turn 360 degrees. A strong telescoping handle is a must, so look for a handle with square tubing, because those are generally more durable than round tubing. Be sure to test the grab handles (the ones that are directly affixed to the side or top of the luggage) to make sure they can withstand lots of manhandling – the ones that are directly attached to the bag’s frame will tend to be stronger.
Some large luggage pieces come with expandable sections, so you can unzip them for even more storage. It’s handy for those situations you get a bit carried away shopping for souvenirs, but just be careful that the bag’s total size and weight, when fully packed, don’t go over your airline’s baggage restrictions.
