Computer Monitors at Future Shop
If you still have a bulky, old CRT computer monitor and finally want to free up some space on your desk, or you’re looking to upgrade to a larger flat panel monitor to increase your screen real estate, then you’ll want to check out Future Shop’s extensive selection of monitors from a wide variety of manufacturers.
When shopping for a new computer monitor, here are a few factors to consider:
Monitor Size
When it comes to monitors, in general, the bigger the better. The larger the monitor, the more space you’ll have to display your applications, which can lead to a better workflow, more productivity, and amazing-looking movies and games. A double or triple monitor setup is another great way to increase your display area.
Types of Monitor Technology
The thin, flat panel design of most modern monitors is based on LCD technology, which allows for slim form factors and more energy efficiency when compared to the large CRT monitors. LED-based monitors are a specialized type of LCDs that uses a more advanced type of backlighting. Newer LED monitors come with 3D capability – just fire up a 3D game or movie, slip on the 3D glasses, and your entertainment will literally leap off the screen.
Monitor Connection Ports
A VGA connection is the oldest type of connection you’ll find on modern monitors, which means it’ll work with most older computers. DVI is one of the newest types of connections and is available on most monitors and newer computers, and HDMI is a standard that transmits both video and audio through a single cable and is commonly found on home theatre components. Check to see what connection ports your laptop or desktop computer is equipped with, then look for the same ports on the monitor you’re shopping for. If you don’t have the right port on your computer then an adapter can probably take care of it for you.
