Beer expert and author, Ian Coutts, delivered a lecture last week, titled “Five Beers over Canada.” He discussed how you could get a better understanding of certain periods in Canadian history based on the type of beer being consumed. Coutts told the CBC that Canada became a beer country, as it was easier to produce due to environmental factors. As oppose to wine, which was created in small areas within the country. Meatless Monday! The title sounds obvious but it’s an international campaign to encourage people not to eat meat one day of the week. Last week, Vancouver became the first Canadian city to endorse this movement and encourage its citizens to turn to local vegetarian options on Monday’s.
