  • Voluntary recall on certain rechargeable batteries in baby video monitors.

    The recall involves rechargeable batteries in certain Summer Infant handheld color video monitors. The rechargeable batteries in the monitors are about 1 1/2" tall by 2 1/4" wide and are 1/4" thick, black, and are marked with TCL on the lower right corner of the battery. Monitors are sold with a matching camera and A/C adaptors. The rechargeable battery can only be found in the monitor. Batteries that may be affected will include one of these letter & number combinations in the beginning of the serial number on the back of the battery.

  • Voluntary safety recall of the Dyson HotTM and Dyson Hot+CoolTM (AM04 and AM05) heater.

    There is a potential for the heater to short circuit, which in a small number of cases has caused a small fire contained within the machine. Immediately unplug the heater and contact Dyson to have the machine fixed free of charge.

    We would like to inform you that Angelcare Monitors Inc., in cooperation with Health Canada, will be announcing a voluntary recall to provide cord covers to consumers who purchased an Angelcare Monitor that includes a sensor pad. The cord attached to the baby monitor's sensor pad that is placed under the crib mattress can present a potential strangulation risk if the child pulls the cord into the crib and it becomes wrapped around the neck.

    Action Electronics Co., Inc. has voluntarily recalled its Axion 4708 7” Portable LCD Monitor and DVD Player. These DVD players were sold at futureshop.ca from October 2006 to January 2007.

  • Remote Control for InsigniaTM DVD Compact Shelf System.

    The white remote has model number NS-A1113 and ”Insignia” printed on the front. The keypad has black numbers/letters. The recalled remote was sold only with the Insignia 100W DVD Compact Shelf System. The Shelf System is not being recalled.

    If the batteries are placed backwards in the remote control with the positive and negative sides improperly switched overheating can result and present a burn.

  • It has come to Sony of Canada Ltd.'s attention that a limited number of Sony digital camera, camcorder and personal digital assistant (PDA) products that incorporate a charge-coupled device (CCD) or image sensor device, manufactured from October 2002 through March 2004, may exhibit the following condition:

    When the product is used in camera mode, the liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and/or electronic viewfinder displays either a distorted image or no image at all.

    Sony Corporation has determined that this condition occurs very rarely, but may be accelerated if an affected product is exposed to high temperature and/or high humidity environments.

    Industry Canada has determined that the Hawking wireless G router, model HWR54G(Web ID:10063095), does not comply with Industry Canada's equipment certification standards and thus has to be recalled immediately.   • Schneider Electric Recall.

    Schneider Electric has concluded that a potential safety hazard exists with SurgeArrest products (Personal, Professional, Performance and Network Models) made before 2003 and sold in North America only. Under infrequent, abnormal building wiring and electrical conditions, these products have the potential to overheat, smoke, and melt, thereby posing a fire hazard. This hazard has been reported in a small percentage (<0.01%) of the units sold and included reports of property damage, mostly involving damaged nylon carpeting.
