Alpine power pack(KTP-445U)

Bought this unit because it was the only one fitting in my Vette. Less performing than the unit I first selected that would not fit in my car. The sound is Ok due to space countraints .

A good alternative to a big amp

I bought this because I was unhappy with the internal amp of the Parrot Asteroid Smart. The Asteroid has great functionality but the amp sounds flat and distorts quite early. Compared to the Alpine IVE-W530 I had previously the sound quality was disappointing. The car is a convertible and the Smart didn't quite have enough juice to produce enough output at highway speeds without distorting. I also wanted something that was easy to install and wouldn't need modification of the car. This Alpine unit fits the bill perfectly. I ran the preamp outputs of the Asteroid into it. Much better. The sound is more full and dynamic and obviously much higher output and that's with the gains on the unit only at about 1/3. There is a bit of a noise floor but it isn't noticeable when driving. Careful setting of the gains will manage that as well. I'm still working on that with mine. The install is fairly straightforward once you find a good spot for the amp. The Asteroid is very shallow so there was room right behind it in the dash. And it just wires into the harness. No need for separate power feed. There are no RCA cables supplied with the unit so buy a couple of those. Length depends on where you're going to put the amp. It does come with ground loop isolators to place between the head unit and the amp but I didn't need them.

2013 Subaru Impreza

I installed this to my factory stereo and was expecting not a lot but but boy I was so surprised that it made a huge difference, I had to crank my volume level to 25-30 to hear my songs from highway road noise now I just need it around 10-15 wow just wow! You wont regret buying this little amplifier, trust me, and its really cheap to install you wont need any line output converter that is if you have a factory deck.
