Equipped with an Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5 processor, 60% faster integrated graphics, and whole lot more, even this MacBook Pro laptop is home to specs that get the job done. The latest generation of MacBook Pros come complete with everything you love about these top-tier laptops, as well as amazing new features like Thunderbolt Technology, and a remarkably long battery life.

More Information

The Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5 processor is part of the latest generation of Intel processors, and it lets you do more than ever before. Combined with integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 that's about 60% faster than the previous version, this amazing machine handles all your tasks with seamless efficiently - from the simple day-to-day stuff to more demanding applications. So no matter what you're doing, you'll experience flawless performance that puts many similarly-spec'd laptops to shame.

Thunderbolt I/O Technology, engineered in cooperation with Intel, is a game-changing idea. It's a new way to connect with high definition devices that allows for unimpeded data transfer, to and from your devices, at speeds of up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0 technology. That means unrestrained, plug and play performance with an array of high-bandwidth devices. The MacBook Pro also comes with two USB 3.0 ports, providing lightning-fast data transfer speeds and backwards compatibility for all your USB-connected devices.

The MacBook Pro features a FaceTime 720p HD camera, so you can enjoy video conversations with friends and family with up to three times the resolution of previous MacBook webcams. You can make 720p HD calls from one new MacBook Pro to another, or calls to other Intel-based Mac computers, iPhone 4 or newer, iPad 2 or newer, or the latest iPod touch.

While it's what's on the inside that counts, it wouldn't be a Mac without its signature design touches. The MacBook Pro is precision engineered from a single block of recyclable aluminum to create the seamless unibody enclosure. And, of course, it's manufactured without the use of most harmful chemicals and toxins.

The Multi-Touch trackpad offers seamless and intuitive interaction with the laptop. The large, smooth glass surface enables the use of gestures to zoom in and out, and flip through photos. You can even assign a right-clickable area of the trackpad for those of you making the switch from PCs.

Despite the powerful graphics and processor, the MacBook Pro boasts an amazing battery life, thanks to a combination of energy-efficient architecture and smart design. Now, you'll enjoy up to 7 hours of un-tethered performance - perfect for those of you who aren't stuck at a desk all day.

And that's just the beginning. Other great features include 802.11n wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, an SDXC card slot, and a fast DVD burner. Finally, it comes fully-loaded with Mac OS X Lion, and a vast array of software that makes the MacBook ready-to-go, right out of the box. You can also upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion for free when it's released.

review from a newly converted former PC user

Mac is much more superior in terms of OS, material, and built quality than that in any PCs. The touch pad and keyboard are highly usable with many intuitive controls. The size is perfect; the screen is vivid (rather low resolution though); the weight is perfect (I like heavy stuff). Overall, I did not find the operation difficult given that it seems the same as those in ipad, iphone, and itouch. I am glad that I did not buy the mouse since a standalone mouse is not necessary (nor desirable) in my opinion.

Very satisfied

Product - Macbook Pro 13' base model. Experience level - This is my first Mac purchase. Just have it for 2 weeks now. Switching from Windows - I have been a Windows user for the past 15 years and still my desktop runs with Windows and Linux, even after that the switching was pretty easy. Some of the functions are handled differently - but with the advent of google, it was easy to learn. (example - use of FN+Q to quit a process completely - just hitting the close button will leave the process running on the background as opposed to Windows). Productivity increase - I must say, I have been thinking of application programs and their utilization much differently while using the machine. It's less customizable than windows in many ways however in the hindsight it makes me more productive in that way as I can concentrate less on unnecessary stuffs. Performance - Very satisfied. Very smooth performance. Applications and programs looks to run much more efficiently than windows. The unibody frame looks and feels cool. The vent is on the side back of the machine and no vent present at the bottom - however the machine runs amazingly cool after several hours of operation. My programming tools (eclipse IDE for C and Java) runs perfect. I was skeptical on the resolution of the screen at first as it was fairly less (1280x800) than all my work laptops I had so far (mostly Lenovo and Dell). However, it never feels like running at that resolution, in fact, feels better and crisper. I was also skeptical on the glossy screen - but now I realize it's not a problem at all. No eye strain after several hours of programming. Battery life is around 6 hours. All in one it's a solid machine. Only con is - it's still not affordable for majority of the buyers.
