Not Good

I bought one of these and the screen had sensitivity issues. I returned it because it took many times of touching to get the screen to respond. Bought a second one that lasted 5 months and has started doing the same thing. Don't waste your money. Currently it is sitting on my shelf and I am waiting to hear back from the Future Shop as to what our options are. The sensitivity issue is known to the manufacturer.

Best 7" Android Tablet currently available

I've been using the Nexus 7 for about a year now, and I am convinced it is the best Android tablet that is available on the market today. You'll continue to receive Android OS updates far beyond the timeframe supported by any other manufacturer out there. I've owned a few Android tablets, and it's disappointing to see that they are only supported for the first few months and then the updates slow to a trickle. When most tablets begin to slow down after the first few months, the Nexus 7 continues to respond as fast as the day you bought it. For those who have posted poor reviews, I would only assume that they've never tried living with other Android tablets, because the proprietary software built into them tend to be their downfall every time.

I had a whole in my heart, no more

Perfect little companion for travelling, finding information, or being quick with tasks. The 7" tablet is small enough to fit in some larger pockets, and big enough to watch movies on.

Excellent tablet

Having never used a tablet before I found that the Nexus 7 was extremely easy to figure out and use! I have recommended it to many of my friends who want something easy and compact to use. I read on it as well and after changing some settings I find it easy on the eyes. Love my new tablet!

Great Tablet

This is the first tablet I have purchased. I tried an 8" model but wanted something a little more compact and the Nexus was perfect. Overall the speed of the processor is excellent and most of the apps runs very smoothly. I have had some wifi issues on and off but it seems to be the router or a specific wifi connection I happened to be using. As for the previous review explaining that their tablet died after six month, I have not seen any reviews that have confirmed that complaint but purchased an extended warranty and than you wont have to worry about it.

Very good but...

I bought my Google Nexus 7 a week ago. I really love it, for the most part. The screen is crisp. The processor is fast. The size is perfect for comfortably holding to watch a video, unlike the size of the iPad Mini. Although not as many as for iOS, there are still plenty of apps for almost everything you can think of. There are two major drawbacks, though. Google, in its not so infinite wisdom, has decided with the Kitkat update to disallow users to connect USB drives with an OTG (On The Go) cable. Apparently, they think we should be happily using the cloud. Many people beg to differ - preferring to use a portable drive - but complaints are falling on deaf ears up to now. This can be a problem if you are in an area without WiFi or if you have limited bandwidth. Fortunately, there is a pay app that addresses this, for the time being. Or you can still transfer files directly from your PC to the tablet. The second issue is that Google has limited the volume on the Android O/S so if you are watching a video in a noisier environment, say a bus on the way home from school or work, the volume may not be loud enough. It doesn't matter much which headphones you are using. I understand Google doing so for the two speakers on the device, as you don't want people to blow these tiny little things with high volume. However, with headphones, the volume should be left up to users, leaving them to decide if we want to damage our hearing or not. If it wasn't for those two issues, I'd give this little gem a 5 star rating. You get a lot of bang for your buck and reviews such as those at PC Mag, CNet, etc. bear that out.

Very happy with Google Nexus 7. Compact size, comfortable backplate, great speakers, speedy processor. Only con so far is that it's a bit slow to charge.

Garbage product, terrible customer service

Don't bother with the Nexus 7, stay away. After 6 months of very light usage (it never left my living room), it stopped booting altogether and this piece of junk is now completely dead. Apparently many, many people are experiencing the same problem, which is related to a drained battery (look it up before considering one of these things!) I've received absolutely no customer service help from Google or ASUS. Despite this being a well-known and well-documented issue, ASUS still expects me to pay for the shipping to send it back. Garbage.

Best Tablet for a Great Price!

This is by far the best tablet at an excellent price so far. Bright and clear screen, fast and awesome touch response. It's light weight and I like the back feeling of it. Not having a MicroSD slot is not really a big deal for me, 32GB is lots of space and I also have a Micro USB OTG Adapter which I can plug in a USB card reader or a USB stick. [...]

Google Nexus 7 Tablet

This was a Christmas gift for my husband. He said it's worth every penny! Definitely a 5 out of 5 for product satisfaction. The screen is very crisp, and he wants to remind everyone to install the USB drivers from Google first as it will not do it for you. He's a totally satisfied customer. Thanks!

Very Impressive

This tablet was purchased as a gift for my husband. At first he was very sceptical about how much he would use it, but now he feels very comfortable with it. The size and clarity of the screen makes it great for reading books and looking at photos. I purchased a case designed for the Nexus 7 and it works beautifully in every way. All in all, I am very impressed with this tablet and would recommend it to anyone.

Great quality portable tablet

I had a Dell Venue 7 and traded it for this when I found that the Venue cannot connect to a cell phone hotspot (try it...you'll see...) I was blown away by how much better the screen is on this Nexus. The speed is fantastic - I haven't seen any lag at all (probably due to the 2 GB RAM) - compared to my Asus Infinity 700, this tablet is so fast and completely lacking in any lag whatsoever. The only concern I have is that it's nearly double the price and HAS NO SD CARD SLOT! This is a Google Nexus "feature" that continues to make me question the overall value of their products. It's a shame for such a great product to have such a crippling limitation. I watch a lot of videos that are 1-1.5 GB in size and if they think I'm going to use google drive to manage those files, they're crazy! Other than that, it is a great product...

Mostly pleased so far.

It is pretty amazing what you get for this price. My only complaint so far is that I cannot mount this device as a drive to copy files back and forth on Windows 7, using USB. I have friends with other Android devices that can do this easily. Myself, I followed many forums and tried all sorts of drivers and changing settings on the device and it simply does not work. I've had to install AirDroid to transfer files which so far seems to work well.

Worth to buy

It was purchased as a birthday gift when onsale. It is a fantastic and user friendly tablet, which can be used for almost most of the routine usages on the websites and certain games. It is now even more amazing as it was automatically upgraded to Android 4.4.2.

Best 7" tablet currently available, period

Google and its partner Asus hit a home run with the Nexus 7 2nd generation. What's not to like about a gorgeous full HD screen, a REALLY fast quad-core processor and open architecture that lets users experiment at will with third-party ROMs? Two thumbs way up.

Very happy customer

I bought my second Nexus 7 tablet about a month ago. In fact, last Christmas I bought one for myself and one for my wife. I bought this year the 2013 model because of the back camera and also because I leave one at the office and the other one at home. Apart from the camera, I don't see much difference between the two models though the original model seems more stable (weird things happen sometimes when you touch the side of the latest model). Speed of execution and sharpness of image is about the same though I must say I do not use it for games. I read so so critics about the camera but for me I have no complaints. It is not an SLR and I never thought it should give me the same results. It is good enough for a tablet camera. I like the size of Nexus 7 and would not trade it for a mini ipad. I have rigid covers for both of my tablets but I prefer when I am at home just to have the tablet in my hands, it is a very good feel. Voilà!

Another winner by Google

The Nexus program has taken off since the first Nexus One phone. Android has grown up a lot in the past few years. The new Nexus 7 is a slick package. A great amalgamation of Asus hardware and stock Android software. Faster, thinner, and lighter than the first generation Nexus 7 and half the price of an iPad mini makes this a win in my books.

perfect small tablet

Title says it all: perfect for on-the-go computing: add the Google QuickOffice suite and the Astro file manager and you have a small PC in your pocket. With a Google Drive acount you can easily save files in the cloud. Also, connect it to a PC and you can transfer files between the tablet and the PC by dragging them from one place to the other, just as if using a thumb drive. The battery can last for an entire day if not used for videos or games. If it only had USB host capability ..… BRAVO ASUS !

Nexus 7

Have had it for about a month and so far I really like it. Small enough to put in your pocket but large enough to be able to use as a tablet should be. Excellent product. The camera could be a little better in quality of pictures but not bad. The image quality on the screen is really good. I have no real complaints so far.

Best 7" tablet on the market

This is indeed the best 7" tablet on the market. It is very difficult to recommend anything else that would provide the same kind of performance and features that the Nexus 7 2013 provides, and that's not even considering the price which just can't be beat. This tablet builds on the success of the previous generation of Nexus 7 which was and still is an excellent device. This tablet is fast, very fast. Browsing the internet and watching hi-def movies doesn't slow it down one bit. With its 2GB of RAM it is a breeze to multitask and switch between programs without delay. Battery life is comparable to the previous nexus 7, with only a slight increase but it will still keep you entertained for a 10 hour flight from Vancouver to Hong Kong. Since this is a tablet manufactured for Google by ASUS it comes with a bone-stock version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean without any junk added from 3rd party vendors. That also means that when Google releases an update for the Android system (4.4 KitKat to be expected soon) you will get it first. This tablet is also a breeze to unlock and root if you are the type to experiment with custom Android builds or just want to give yourself that root access and privileges to do what you please on your tablet. Perhaps its biggest upgrade over the previous model is the hi-res screen. Not only did you get a 323 ppi pixel density, which itself is a big step up, Asus also calibrated the display for the most accurate and brilliant color reproduction on any tablet to date. Oh yeah and you also get a rear camera now with the ability to shoot 1080p video, nice! In conclusion, this tablet is the best 7" form factor out there. I have used both the 1st and 2nd (2013) gen Nexus 7 and I must say that it only keeps getting better. The Nexus 7 2013 combines the best hardware and software for an outstanding price. If you are even remotely considering getting this tablet then just stop for a second, close your eyes, take a deep breath, grab your keys, go to your nearest Future Shop, and GET IT! You will not regret your purchase I guarantee. -Dima

Great Tablet for a Great Price

I have had this tablet for about a month now and i absolutely love it. The only thing about it that could be better is the cameras but i did not get it for the cameras anyway. It is fast and has a beautiful display perfect size to bring anywhere and since it's a nexus it will get updates/support from google longer then any other tablet(IE it just got updated to the latest version of android). If you are in the market for a tablet loo no further.

That was 2 weeks ago and it did it again. Same thing Screen on No touch pad. Cant get in to files. So I'm going to return this one. Guess I'll look around and see what others have to say But for know will do things back on my HTC cell Which I have had for a year no problems

I have bought two of the Nexus 7's for Christmas gifts, just had to open one to check it out and found that they are absolutely great! The screen is crisp and clear, seems to run fast on the Android 4.3 OS. Can't beat the price either. Best bang for the buck for a tablet.

Google Nexus 7 - pretty awesome

Pretty happy with my Google Nexus 7. I bought this primarily as a device to use when I go to the gym (imagine I'll use it when I travel too). I don't do any fancy with it - mostly just use if for browsing the web, apps, watch some shows while on the treadmill. Have to say, the screen quality is just sublime. Jellybean platform is awesome, everything runs super smooth and there are no lagging issues when you flip the device around, or switch between applications. Also, it looks and feels great in hand. If you are considering a tablet, I recommend dishing out that little bit extra for the better resolution and faster OS - check this thing out in person if you need to, you won't be disappointed.

Almost perfect

I have owned both iPads and Sony android tablet, iPhones and currently using Samsung note 2, I love the size of this tablet, the only draw back for me is the screen size, Google can easily enlarge the screen size and remain the same physical measurement, the content will be large and easier to read, then it will be perfect for me, Everything else is good, comes with GPS, which I loved, I am returning it, because it is not much difference when compare viewing with the note 2. Price is good, if I don't already own a big phone, I will keep it.

Clear screen but ......

Having owned iPad2 I was expecting this device to perform par to or better than the iPad2 because this is a newer technology. However, I noticed that at times I needed to multi-tap links, programs to get the device to respond to my touch. I also find the 7 inch screen too small. It's only 2" bigger than my Galaxy S4. I returned this product and currently considering either the iPad Air or wait for the new Nexus 10 to come out.

Great little tablet

This is a great small tablet. Overall this is one of the best android experiences I've had and this is my 5th android device. Everything runs smoothly and quickly with a long battery life and an excellent screen which very important since I mostly use this to browse the internet and read comics. The screen is smaller than the Asus TF300 that my girlfriend owns but the higher resolution on the Nexus 7 makes this practically a non-issue.

This is one sweet tablet

I have an iPad and an iPad Mini. They both have their points, but this is one sweet piece of hardware at a very attractive price. While it's true that the Apple stuff works right out of the box, so too does this tablet. I was up and running in five minutes. The screen is gorgeous (much nice than the iPad Mini), and the ecosystem, while not quite as mature as Apple's, is in a way more interesting. It's certainly more idiosyncratic, and I mean that in a very positive way.

Warning

I gave a 4 star rating three days ago. Just had two days struggling with the OS. Looks like a conflict of the OS with some apps. The tablet would fail to reboot after Power Off. It hangs up on the infamous multi-color X icon. Had to get help from the Google Discussion forum. Ended up reset to factory default. Lost all data and had to reset all accounts. In short, test each app you install by power off/on. Don't download a lot of data before you do this. Possibly the problem is with root apps. Those that prevent the tablet from going to sleep. Bad! This is Version 4.3? Makes Microsoft look good. Check the discussion forum. This problem began months ago. No solution from Google. Lots of other issues. IMO, Android not ready for primetime.

Have had the tablet for over two weeks now. Here's my thought: Pros: Very snappy Screen extremely sharp Battery last over 8 hrs continuous usage Light and thin Stereo speakers Video and picture quality are good Cons: Locked up once Most apps are for 4" - 5" phone
