Works well for recording

I bought this tuner only for OTA ATSC recording, I do not use it to actually watch live TV. Tuner is connected to outdoor DB-4e antenna and used with NextPVR for recording on Win7 x64. .ts files produced by NextPVR are played back by WDTV Gen3 without any issues and any visible quality degradation compared to live streams on 60" screen.

Works well

Chose this product based on price and other reviews I could find on-line. I use it to record OTA TV shows so I can watch later, streaming to my smart TV. Third-party PVR programs appear to not work with this, so I was stuck with AVerMedia's software. That being said, it does the job well enough for what I want. High-powered PC required to record in other formats than MPEG2. My mini PC is not, so I record in MPEG2. Large files, but great looking. Could use a third-party conversion tool afterwards I suppose. Recording/scheduling software does not handle windows 8.1 with multiple users signed in at the same time very well. I figured out a way to modify the registry to get it to work, but that is beyond the average windows user. Single user windows 8.1 machine, it would work no problem. If the software had handled multiple users appropriately, I would have rated it 4, if it included a utility to convert file formats after they had been recorded, it would have been a 5.

Easy to use

As someone new to watching & recording television shows on a computer, this is easy to setup and start using, and did what we wanted without too many extra bells and whistles to confuse things. Has plenty of options for basic use, well worth the price. Only negative about it is that if connected with a stiff, heavy coaxial cord, the weight and angle of the cord can cause it to partially pull out of the USB port if not placed with some extra support to hold it still - but that's a pretty minor issue.
