Above expectation

This Bosch was purchased to replace a Kitchen Aid dishwasher, which had a burnt out electronic control and it's a rather common hazard among the Whirlpool family of products. Do a quick search on the Internet to find out. Appliance life span is limited and it's okay to break down but not with "firework"! Do not expect to load your dishes as a North American design dishwasher, it's German engineering and it is meant to be different. That's where a lot of poor reviews on similar Bosch product were based on. To enjoy this dishwasher, you need to relearn on how to load the dishwasher especially if you have prior experience with North American design dishwasher. If you follow loading instruction, you will find that you can actually accommodate more in a wash. To enjoy the energy saving, do not turn on additional heat dry function. The residual heat from the dish-washing process will be sufficient to dry well provided you allow some time after the cycle is completed to do so. If you want it very dry, rinse agent and time will help. At 48 db, it is not silent and it will never be, after all a machine is running. It's quiet enough. You want it really quiet, pay more Overall, price is reasonable when it's on sale.

Not good for the price

Bosch makes great ovens and cooktops however their dishwashers do have some caveats. The tub walls are stainless steel. The indicators are Red LED's (the cheapest color). The unit is made in USA. The tines are spaced very closely limiting the amount of spray that can reach the dishes.. The dishwasher is quiet, however cleaning power without pre-rinsing is mediocre. There is no food disposer (one of the reasons it's very quiet), so pre-rinsing is a must. You need to empty a container at the bottom which collects the particles, which can start to smell bad if you don't do so often. For a talltub dishwasher capacity is very disapointing. Quality of the unit overall is good. Design could use a lot of work. Front stainless steel is of good thickness and doesn't "spring" when touched. Like all stainless steel appliances, you need to keep wiping for it to look the best. Spray arms are plastic and very flimsy. The hose that attaches the upper spray arm can disconnect easily and require snapping on.

Good and quiet

Nice dishwasher. Relatively quiet at 48DB - it has a red LED light that shines on the floor, and sometimes that is the only way you can tell it is on. It cleans well. As with all new dishwashers, the average cycle time is over 2 hours. Looks crisp without a visible panel. The only negative is that it, and all Bosch/European dishwashers, is smaller that a traditional North American dishwasher. It'll fill up with dishes quicker and you will do more loads. We are up about 50% on loads per week.
