Lower body construction poor

The sound is ... was amazing 5 stars but the lower docking station is flimsy 1star to the point that my system is now expired and is trash :( . Buy it leave it in one place

The best speaker!!

I used several desk speakers, but this one is the best. When a singer sings, it sound beside me and never heard any blur sound behind the singers. Every good job, Bose!

Best sound as always come from Bose!!!

This is a great product. In response to Dan R speaking of Bose being in denial about 20 playing then cutting off...It is NOT the Bose but most likely the settings related to YOUR audio device(i-pod or whatever you are using).

Good sound, but ...

I do like the sound quality for this compact music system, but there are a couple of flaws with the sounddock 1) as others have pointed out, the docking connection is flimsy and doesn't allow for an ipod/iphone to be connected while in it's case. I ended up buying an additional connecting (male + female) cable from cablejive which solved this problem 2) there seems to be some kind of "sleep" mode for the speaker, in that it cuts out all sound after about 20 min. You can hit a volume button to get it going again, but still somewhat annoying. This shows up especially if you are streaming internet radio or another source. Several searches through internet say Bose is in denial that there is a sleep function built in, and no solutions are available.

Not for me.

This was recommended to me as being the one for the best sound, but the construction is too flimsy. The docking unit part is so poorly connected to the speaker portion that it flops when you pick it up or move it. Not worth the price.

Not bad

It honestly is not a bad unit is not as clear as what some posters are saying. again it does sound not too bad but there is 2 major flaws with it considering the price. 1) the docking part is very weak, I don't understand why they can't build it stronger, when you move the unit the dock part flops down a bit and really feels cheap. But that's ok as the circuit boards are available online so you can replace it when it breaks. 2) remote is nice but super basic as you can't go through you library with it which would be great considering the weak dock connector. Overall though the sound is good but no where near as clean as my Yamaha dock which I bought after 2 Bose units (flimsy dock connector)

Bose Blows

Honestly I hear so much hype about bose and when I went to try it at future shop it was pretty good so I took a chance and bought it and honestly... It does have really really really good quality sound, like clear as can be but just not enough base for my taste. When I was 2 feet from it I liked the base but more than that like 4 feet the base doesnt impress me. sorry guys but either than that it has really good quality sound

Bose soundDock

Just love it, the sound is just amazing!!! The only down side is that I have to take off my iPhone protective cover every time, cause the connecting port from the soundDock isn't long enough for a proper connection with the cover on... Other than that, it is a great piece of kit...

to keep this simple; i highly recommend this product. The sound is so clear, base sounds amazing, AND it recharges your ipod while playing music! Over-all don't be worried to much about price; yes it is quite expensive but it'll last you many years!

I've wanted one of these forever but never wanted to spend so much. It offers awesome crisp sound and I can turn up the tunes without any sound deterioration!! I love that it charges my iTouch and the remote is an added bonus! Great sound for all genres: dance, rock, pop...

Solid Design but not for quiet

My Harman Kardon Sound Sticks were broken (accidentally) during a move and I replaced them with the Bose SoundDock Series II. The fact that I can drop my iPhone into the unit is fantastic. The auxiliary input from my laptop while the phone is charging - also great. The problem is the sound at low volumes. Because I use this SoundDock to listen to music at my desk and not to fill a small room or space, the volume is definitely kept in the lower 20% of it's maximum and the balance between bass and midrange is not handled well (the bass overpowers the midrange but not the highs). Turning on audio equalization on the iPhone or the laptop can be used to correct the issue, but if the volume is increased (after 5 PM) the problem comes back, this time in a lack of bass response. To be sure I wasn't crazy, I took my iPhone to the store with a playlist of various music sources (classical, pop, rock, jazz, acoustic, and choral). After comparing the music on the Series 2 and the SoundDock 10, I can confidently say that the former is not well balanced compared to the latter. If I needed the system to fill a small room, I'd stick with the Series II (or the 10 if I could afford it), but for desktop multimedia purposes, I'm going back to Harman Kardon.

Bose Soundock II

Simply a must if you own an iPhone or iPod. Sound much superior than most other docking stations that i have found on the market. You pay for what you get. Superior bass sound, the kind of sound yoy would expect from Bose

I have been looking at dock systems for a while and was not sure because of the cost of these. But when I finally got it home and set it up and turned it on, WOW. Should have bought one long ago. Well worth the money. I can put it on in the kitchen and it sounds great throughout the house. Perfect for me.

You gotta hear it

I listen to a lot of Jazz. When I got home with this little jem I put Miles Davis Bitches Brew on and it blew me away. Yes there are better sounding units out there but they cost almost double to get very little increase in sound quality. If you're looking for great sound at a great price you are going to love this item.

My daughters each got one last Christmas. One mid-summer day I thought I'd try one on our deck with my IPOD at moderate volume - it sounded great (typical for Bose products). Our neighbours were having a party at the same time but weren't playing music! Imagine - a party without music! I had to run an errand so I thought I'd turn it off while I was out. My neighbour yelled "Hey, what happened to the music?" So, I turned it back on and cranked it up. It was absolutely the hit of the party. Of course, I seemed to have all the right tunes but believe it or not, it filled both back yards with plenty of loud, virtually distortion free music. Don't let the size fool you - this unit is awesome. You won't be disappointed. Tip - make sure you set your IPOD's equalizer setting to one you like as the SoundDock has no tone control. I use "rock".

Great Sound

I've always heard people rave about Bose products, so I decided to give it a try. The first thing that struck me is the rich and clear sound the speaker makes, and then of course, how loud this little thing is. People who complain about Bose seem to equate the amount of bass to the quality of the speaker. This unit definitely has enough bass (but with balance). The only complaint I have is that auxiliary input only works if the iPod is not docked; there's no option to select one sound source or the other, with both inputs connected.

Not worth it

I suggest anyone considering a Bose sound dock listen to other sound docks like the JBL On Stage 400Id or the Harman Kardon Go + Play. I listened to the Bose and JBL units side by side. The Bose unit sounded like a cheap clock radio by comparison, and it costs considerably more. The HK unit sounded the best, but is just too big and awkward. The JBL unit came out the winner.
