Loving it but a rough start

First one worked for two days and then mysteriously died on a Saturday Morning. Had to wait until Monday for Breville customer Service and then waited over half an hour to get through to find out it needed to be returned. It was really easy to return to a store even though we bought it online. Not all stores are so well integrated between online and Brick and Mortar and it was really nice and hassle free. Everyone was super helpful. Found the coffee maker really easy to learn how to set it up,. Pretty foolproof and consistent quality of coffee and easy to adjust strength. We like strong coffee and we found we started out strong and then kept dropping the strength to about a middle setting. The bean hopper is small so it requires topping up every two days but that's not a big problem because I'm emptying the filter daily anyway. Grinder is a little noisy in our pretty open house so we get a wake-up about 12 minutes before the coffee finishes brewing (it's the new snooze mode) but the act of grinding the beans immediately before adds flavor. Very happy with it. Great price

Love the Youbrew

Finally a machine that satisfies the needs of different tastes. My wife loves a medium strength coffee. I prefer it stronger. We can brew a pot of medium strength and then a cup of something stronger after. No more insipid kcups for us! Fresh beans brewed ready when we wake up. Of course it is loud, it has a burr grinder for goodness sakes. If you want a quiet machine just use the previous ground setting. Pots, cups, travel mugs... very versatile. Follow the maintenance schedule and no issues. Maybe we got lucky with our unit but would do it all over again. 5 Stars.

Cheaper than tassimo in the long run

we love the smell of fresh ground coffee. This machine has been very reliable and consistently brews a great cup of joe. It has already paid for itself in comparison to a Tassimo saving by not buying T Discs.

Great Coffee Maker

This us the best coffee maker we have ever had! It makes great tasting coffee! The ability to control the strength and produce a full carafe or just a cup are nice features. It is well: designed; intuitive with its controls and warnings; and easy to clean and maintain. Someone in another review mentioned lukewarm coffee but I have never had that issue. I have taken the temperature of the coffee and it is the correct temperature result for brewed coffee and we don't pre warm the carafe. My only worry is that there are a lot of moving parts, and electronics in this coffee maker that could go wrong, so I hope it lasts! But I have had other Breville products and they have lasted.

best coffee maker ever

this makes the best tasting coffee! It preheats, is totally automated and flawless, the carafe is very solid and pours with no drips. We keep saying its the best coffee and maker ever and it sure is!

For coffee lovers

This is an excellent coffee pot. Love the burr grinder feature. There is nothing like freshly ground and brewed coffee! This machine offers so many options, strength of brew, beans or not, and even a one cup and up option. Easy to clean and access all the parts. Love the stainless steel thermal carafe. Plus it looks good on the counter too. Its no more noisy than my last grind and brew machine. This coffee is better than buying it out!

Disappointed

Two main problems with this coffee maker for us. No point setting it for the night before because if you make coffee without preheating pot or cut with boiling water the coffee is just lukewarm and has to be microwaved to be drinkable. The grinder is just to fine and with no adjustment it makes the grind so fine we find it slightly bitter. So we use paper filters and coffee we grind first and still often land up using microwave to warm coffee. we will be going back to french press.

Great Coffee but what a mess

I purchased this coffee maker for the single cup and grinder all-in-one. The coffee was the best that I have tasted in a long time. However, the cleanup after a single cup of coffee was extremely messy. Not only do you have to clean the basket but the container that houses the basket needs to be cleaned on a cup by cup basis. It was so inconvenient the machine was returned before ever making a full pot of coffee.

Disappointing

This macineade a great cup of coffee while it worked. After 4 months it would no longer correctly read the water level so I was unable to brew a carafe of coffee

Nice machine.

We purchased this coffee maker mainly because of its uni-lingual labels and we've had it for about one year now and haven't had any problems with it. The design is beautiful and matches our other Breville appliances very well. However, it can be difficult for a short person to read the display, depending on counter height and placement. Thanks.

Awesome, but noisy

Love this coffee machine. Finally makes a drip coffee the way I like. Only downside is the noise made by the grinder. If you live in a small dwelling/ 1 bdrm apartment, take that into consideration. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for a long time when you have a lazy day ahead of you!

Very good but not perfect

Overall I am very happy with this product. It makes a cup or carafe of coffee that is the equal or better of anything served from a coffee shop or drive thru, even the premium ones. It will take some fiddling with the strength settings to find your perfect cup. The carafe is very well insulated and will keep the coffee hot for hours. A next-gen improvement I would like to see is the ability to adjust the grind size by a small amount. I like a slightly larger grind steeped for a longer time, which produces a more complex flavour. The coffee from this coffee maker is still not the equal of a properly prepared french press but it is still very good.

Poor QA but excellent cup of coffee!

As with other posts, I would agree that QA is almost non-existent at Breville. I really wanted to like this appliance; so much so that I got THREE (3) of them before it was perfect. The first one, the door kept opening mid-brew, stopping the cycle. Brought it back, and the second one leaked all over the counter. Back it went. We've had the third one now for 3 weeks, and it's working fine. This replaces a 1 year old Krups SilverArt thermal carafe brewer, which isn't keeping the coffee hot after only a year. Coffee is very hot, and stays hot in the carafe, even if it's not pre-warmed (set timer for 6:30 am). We have it set on the lowest strength setting for our taste, so there's plenty of room to adjust. The ability to brew one cup is great, but we find that it's a little wasteful; we use paper filters to avoid the grit left by all permanent filters. The noise is no louder than a standalone burr grinder, which we used for 10 years previously. The engineering that went into this machine looks astounding. Everything is very thought out, such as the small drip tray inside the filter housing that catches the stray coffee grinds that says "Please clean me" right on it. Then there's the rotating disc between the grinder and filter that prevents steam traveling back up to the grinder and gumming things up. It takes about 11 minutes to brew a full 12 cup pot of delicious coffee, and about 4 minutes to brew a single cup, depending on size selected. Bottom line, I recommend this grind and brew highly.

First ever 'too strong' cup of coffee!

Pros -the first ever home brewer to make a cup that was too strong -perfect control over strength and boldness -no need to measure out water or beans (no guess work) -fairly easy to use Cons -MASSIVE/HEAVY -LOUD grinder (I live in a studio condo and it comes as a rude awakening when that baby fires up) -no empty bean tray sensor (allows you to accidentally set timer without sufficient beans in the hopper)

So far ... I LOVE this machine

I have only had this coffee maker since Boxing Day, but so far, I love all of the features. Like I read in another review, it has taken a little time to learn my "perfect brew", but now that I know, I can switch between Carafe and Cup mode and get a great tasting brew each time. I have taken the time to warm the carafe and cup, but this was also a process I have always used, so nothing new to learn. There are enough brew settings on this coffee maker for everyone.

Very nice !!

Some on other sites have had neg. reviews on this machine and I have to say, I think that they may have buyers remorse for the high price. This machine rocks, everything on this machine does what it claims to do, GREAT CUP OF COFFEE!! and yes it is very easy to clean! I got it on sale and was worth every penny. As for the coffee being not hot enough just heat up the carafe or mug as instruction say! No more TIM's for me, machine should pay for it's self in 6 months.

OH YEAH

Outstanding machine. It lets you select precisely how to brew your single cup of coffee to your own preferance. I have never experienced this good of a result from single cup machines. It takes longer to get your coffee brewed but the wait is well worth it. however, to get the max result you need to have the cup and/or coffee pot pre-heated so that the coffee retains its proper temperature.

Great machine!!

I've tried a lot of coffee machines, but this one beats them all. Tassimo machines are clever but you always run out of refills. I had a cuisinart grind and brew, but you couldn't select just one cup and it didn't taste nearly as good as the breville. I also have a breville cappuccino maker as well that I love for speciality coffees, but when I want a quick great tasting cup of coffee before work this is the best solution. The brew strength works wonderfully. I'm actually jacked on coffee right now as I write this review because I can't stop using the machine. LOL. Bottom line. This is the best machine on the market for what it does. It's a little pricey , but you get what you pay for. Plus it looks awesome sitting on my counter next to the cappuccino maker. A+++++

Great Purchase

If you are sick of sub par quality of Kitchen Aid, but liked what it did, and the coffee it dispensed, spend the money on this machine. I had one Kitchen Aid grind and brew, lasted 10 years, then three other machines, all died within a year or two. Max two pots a day. If you are one of those so called coffee experts, this machine is not for you. Don't listen to reviews about it not coming about hot enough, its easily 180F where it is supposed to be served. Each person has different tastes, but, no complaints yet. It did take me awhile to get my strength setting to my liking however. I like strong coffee, but, this was too strong. So I had to adjust as I went. The cup brewing feature is awesome, since I love a cup after dinner, but hate wasting a pot. Coming from the Kitchen Aid, the parts are built to last a lot longer then Kitchen Aid, and it is a heck of a lot easier to clean! The coffee pot holds coffee hot for a while. While not brew temperature hot, still hot enough three hours later that steam is coming out, and my addition of my 18% cream doesn't make the coffee cool to drink. Add to the fact Kitchen Aid customer service is next to non existent, and they now charge for nearly every repair of their cheap parts, I see nothing but another win for Breville. I have bought several things from them, and while the price seems high, I find I am getting my monies worth. Longevity of a product, properly constructed, does as advertised, and something that seems like it can last a long time. Some have commented it uses a lot of beans, I see no consumption difference from my old Kitchen Aid to this machine after I got my strength settings figured out.

The Best!

Bought this coffee maker last month and no complaints. Makes great coffee, 1 cup at a time or by the carafe. Well worth the $ in comparison to the quality of the brew! Love it, no negatives.
