Prints well -- exceedingly slow

I've been using this printer for about 3 months. Printing is good, but it is slower than molasses.

For the money, how can you go wrong?

I got this printer on sale (with inkjet cartridges) for less than the cost of a set of inkjet cartridges alone. It does everything really well and does duplex printing. The setup is really easy. Ok maybe it is not the quietest or quickest printer but for the home consumer who cares?? This is an excellent product if purchased on sale.

Great for the price!!

I bought this on sale [...], so for the cost its an amazing printer for everyday use. I print photos on a pro Epson printer but I have printed a few on the canon printer and I'm really impressed with its colour printing. It's a great printer even at full price.

Got on sale - Great all-in-one

I traded my busted up printer with warranty and got this printer on a good sale and have warranty on it now too. There is a quiet setting that slows the printer down a bit but makes it much quieter. If you leave it on copy, it is true that it freezes up and you have to restart - but I keep mine on menu and it works great. I'm loving this printer so far and am using all of it's features, hoping it will last me a long time, but if not - I have the warranty

I am happy with this printer!

I purchased this printer as my old Canon printer was not compatible with Windows 8.1, and I wanted something that had Wifi and AirPrint. The printer is larger than I expected, but not overly so. The wifi setup was extremely easy. I found the software install on my Windows 7 computer to be a little slow, but it went very quickly on the Windows 8.1. The initial setup did take more time than I anticipated (aligning the print heads, initial printing, etc.), but now that it is set up, it goes very quickly. I scanned something using the laptop (over wifi), and it was also received by my laptop very quickly. This printer has two paper trays - I put 4X6 in the top tray, and I don't have to worry about printing from my iPhone - it automatically pulls from the tray with the 4X6 (and it is borderless printing). The quality of the print job is VERY GOOD!!!!

big, clunky, very slow and needs to be turned on/off to connect wirelessly (can't wake up from sleep mode). So disappointing. Bought not long ago, but this one won't be in my home office long.

Got it on sale so its worth it.

I got this printer for really cheap, its quite big and is pretty good but its just a big slow at times and it makes a lot of noise when printing but other than that its a good printer, worth the money.

Easy Install

Very happy with entire process. Delivery was next day...installation was easy....just follow instruction exactly....forgot to buy extra ink cartridges when I ordered the printer, I like to have 'spares' available at all times. Printing is very good, the deal was $100 off MSRP which made it a super deal and I would recommend this printer.

Great Printer

I had bought a printer made by a different company and couldn't get the wireless printing feature to work. So for me the greatest selling feature of the Canon PIXMA was how easy it was to set up the wireless printing. The quality of the printing seems to be on par with any other printer. So if you aren't too tech savvy, or like me don't have the patience needed to fix issues that may come up, you will appreciate the user friendly nature of the experience.

amazing machine

I thought I was only buying a printer. wow, did I ever underestimate this machine. I love it. use it all the time, for fax, photocopying, and, of course printing. only drawback is the number of ink cartridges (5). but other than that, totally happy with it.

It's good (if you know its quirks)

If you want it to print reliably without turning it on and off, then simply use wired connection between printer and router. It seems that in wireless mode printer doesn't wake up when user sends document to it. But most of printers behave the same, so just workaround that.

Expensive Ink

Works well however it cost $$$ to replace only 4 of the 5 inks. it cost 89.99 to buy. Might as well throw it out and get new technology.

Horrible Printer

By far the worst printer i've ever owned. I work in the IT industry and have been around printers for the past 20 years. I have never had a printer that needs to be turned off and then back on so many times. Happens practically daily. Then randomly it looses the wifi signal and has to be reconnected to my wireless network. Once it comes back online it then humms, and clicks, and whirls, for about 30 seconds before anything can be printed. Its a big, clunky printer, that has practically no redeeming qualities.

Great product

Easy set up. Clear step-by-step instructions. Best photo printer for the money. Software to organize not so user friendly but definitely handy to have. Have not used all the features yet. Still feel this product is a great product.

Serious Driver Issues With Mac

I have tried all 3 of their recommended Mac drivers and all of them are horrible. Sure, I can print and the printer prints great quality for the price but it can really test your patience. Takes 5 minutes before every print to warm up among other complaints...

not impressed

OK, I guess I knew I was buying a disposable printer at that price. But it only lasted 7 months. And what killed it was my wife tugging (not even very hard) a sheet of paper that was trying to go back into the printer for duplex printing. It did go back in, not jammed or anything - nice and smooth, and then the machine stopped working. Can't get at the paper from any angle. Tech support told me I basically need to buy a new machine. Unbelievable. What poor design.

I agree with the other comments in that it is extremely slow to start up. The other comment that I have is the ink cartridges are very hard to find in stores - seems they are only available at Future Shop/Best Buy? I have not printed any photos as of yet but all other functions appear to work just fine. Delivery quick very quick!

Great value

Excellent value for the money, provided you buy it on sale. Very slow start up, but worth the wait as print quality is great. Have never & will never buy anything but a Canon printer for reliability. Somewhat on the large side, but really nice looking.

Excellent multifunction printer

I find this multifunction wireless printer a very good value. It does a lot for me and for my wife. I believe in the canon brand. One negative point, it takes very long to start any of the functions when you opening it at first.

Excellent printer

The only reason I didn't give this printer 5 stars is because it's an inkjet, guaranteed to run out of costly ink in no time. I wait til boxing day every year to get my affordable all-in-one vs buying ridiculously overpriced ink cartridges. That being said, this printer is probably the best inkjet I have owned. The ability to print from my iPad or iPhone is gold, a welcome addition to my home computing. I was able to have this printer up & running in under 5 minutes, my 7 year old iMac found and downloaded the right driver automatically for me. Nice! Overall, if its inkjet you're looking for then this printer will serve you well.

Great buy on this Canon printer

I needed a new printer with wireless capability and found this one on sale. Pros: easy to set up, good print quality, speed of printing. Cons: printer's actual size is a bit big, haven't figured out how to turn off the beeping after each button press. Until now I've been a staunch HP supporter but was steered away from them due to complaints of high ink usage on their newer models. Too soon to tell what the Canon's ink consumption is. All in all, I'm happy with this purchase.

Easy to set up, slow on start up, fast after that.

Prints great, slow on waking from sleep mode but after that very fast and good quality printing. But, should have done a bit of looking into. It takes 5 different ink cartridges, your regular 3 color ones, then a black color one and finally a black cartridge. I didn't realize that I would have needed that extra black cartridge. 5 cartridges is a bit much.

Good value when on sale

I have had the MX722 for couple months now. Installation over WiFi went fine without any issues. I immediately ordered a set of aftermarket refillable cartridges and half a liter of bulk ink for a fraction of the cost. They work ok for text and documents. With bulk ink, colour reproduction is slightly off on photos "out of the box" - luckily, Canon printers can use custom ICC profiles to correct for different ink/paper combinations. Cons: - it is huge - start-up time: it takes a while to print the first page from sleep mode - ink hog (XL cartridges are half-empty after initial setup and ~100 pages printed) Pros: - dual-side printing works very well and saves paper - with compatible cartridges and bulk ink, the cost per page is very low. Need to calibrate the colours though

Oh me nerves....

Whom ever wrote the instruction book couldn't have seen the machine. Have it for over a week and I am still working on settings. On the plus side, it is pretty, has two paper trays and was easy to plug in. I am using Windows 7 with USB cable. It is a noisy machine compare to what I had before and makes my world shake when it is working. My expectations might have been a bit high but that's life. I would not recommend it to friends and relatives.

One week trying to connect

Maybe everyone else here is using Windows 7. I'm using Windows 8. I've been trying for a week now to connect this computer to my desktop computer, both wirelessly and with a cable, but I can't connect it. When I go to the troubleshooting documentation...everything is for Windows 7 or previous. Taking it back. [...]

The head alignment didn't work.

It was pretty, but a little bit big. And I spent 30 mins to retry the head alignment, however, it still came up with some errors. So I have to bring it to the local store and get a new one. Hopefully everything will be fine.

Keep an eye on this one

I was looking to replace my all-in-one at home, when I saw the MX722 on sale for [...]$. So far, I am very pleased with it. AirPrint works great with beautiful colors on pictures. The printer seems to take a few extra seconds to get ready to start a print job, but once started the pages fly through at a good pace. Very happy with the purchase
