not so happy anymore

i loved the look of it and thought it be a great printer but after hours of trying to set up the wireless connection and wasnt able to i had to buy a cord to plug the printer into my laptop . it took me a while to get my first copy to come out and now for the last 3 days i have been trying to get the paper work scanned into my printer and getting fed up and ready to sell to buy a better printer . if i only needed a printer this would made a great one but for what i need this doesnt do the job . it should not be called an ALL IN ONE if it doesn't do it ALL

Decent entry level machine, do not expect much

I bought this printer in the hopes of replacing my 4 year old HP Photosmart 6280. The initial setup was simple and speedy, and the wireless connection was consistent and easy to establish. It was off to a great start, and I was quite happy with it. However, as soon as I printed the first photo, I knew I was in for a world of disappointment. The overall contrast levels were sub-par. Blacks were more of a dark purple. On photo prints, results were very grainy and blurry. The printer failed to produce edge detail of any sort. I made attempts to tweak the print settings as well as calibrating the printer colours via ICC profiles. To no avail, it seems the grainy images are the best the printer can offer. At the same DPI settings as my old printer, the results were just horrendous... Pros: - Among the cheapest wireless all-in-one you'll find - Easy setup - Competitive print speed Cons: - Poor print quality over-all - Large size for an entry level all-in-one - Lack of proper display panel. On screen commands are literally represented by random lines and patterns such as _| and | -| Verdict: The retail price of this printer was the same as my four year old HP Photosmart, and it is indeed convenient and feature packed. However, while being a much newer model, it was inferior to my old printer in terms of print quality. High-res photos from my DSLR looked like they were shot with 10 year old point-and-shoots with low light and high ISO (aka grainy). I would recommend it only for those with occasional print needs, and are not looking for anything other than printing homework and lecture slides.

Good for the price

i bought this to use with my laptop, PC and iMac. It installed easily on both windows and OSX. I haven't had the poor quality printing issues another reviewer had. I know that it doesn't print text quite as sharply as my other printers, but they also cost considerably more. There was no squiggly text. Did the other reviewer align the print heads as instructed? I printed some maps on a small scale and they are still quite legible. As of yet, I haven't tried photo printing. One thing that you should be aware of is the replacement ink. Instead of tanks, you have to replace the entire cartage. To by one colour and one black cartridge will cost almost as much as the printer - more than what I paid on sale. however, I knew that going in and since this is not my main printer, I can deal with that. If you are into high volume printing, consider a laser or a higher priced machine with individual ink tanks. Overall, I feel that for the price, this is a good printer.

Prints Poorly

It's small and aesthetically pleasing, but it was difficult to install and the print quality is very poor. I compared the print out to a print out on my old 2005 HP photosmart printer, and it was much worse. The letters come in a little wiggly.
