Great Buy and works as advertised.

Bought this unit and have used it already a few times. My apartment faces the afternoon sun and can get quiet warm quickly even on days when it seems it shouldn't in spring and summer. i can find my apartment at 85c by early afternoon. Not the best situation for a person with a low tolerance for heat. This unit is in My bedroom and it cools a 2 bedroom apartment nicely its not Cold by any means by just right and air is dried which helps immesnly. The apartment is broken up in multiple rooms so fans to move cool air around are a must. I see people saying unit wont cool their place. Let me offer a few suggestion. 1) Blackout curtains or curtain liners, Canadian Tire sells them and they are a Debbie Travis line..they are heavier and have a white backing (liners are white with a grey panel on one side) to reflect the heat back out. close them when your not home and keep your place dark during the day as much as possible (in summer ,during day my place is so dark you have to turn lights on too see anything in my room if that's a hint)You can see the one folded back in Picture #2 linked below. 2) close Closet doors and doors to rooms you do not need to have open when running the unit and don't need to cool( seriously why are you cooling a clothes closet or a bathroom ..its wasted cooling for unused square footage) I close the utility room door, bathroom door and second bedroom door (which is my office) .I use a box fan in door of my bedroom to move Cooled air into hallway and another box fan to move cooled air into living room ( its not going to get their on its own to efficiently) - when i am using my home office (spare bedroom) i open that door and face box fan moving air into living room into the spare door instead and inside minutes i have that room cooled now as well. BUT not until i need it to be cooled. Don't start air conditioner in middle of afternoon when your place is already too warm..If you know its going to be hot that day..Home or not..Start the air conditioner earlier in the morning. Its easier to keep a place cool then to try and cool it later and a more efficient use of the unit and electricity. Close those curtains and blinds (use blackout curtains if possible)..i know i said it before and ill say it again..close them. If you have sunlight streaming in and your expecting a portable air conditioner to work miracles your going to be disappointed. . wrap the exhaust pipe, the one that gets hot when Air con is running , with a light towel and keep it as short as possible. That plastic hose gets hot and can radiate some heat back into the very area you are trying to cool.

Broke down after 2 weeks

I bought that unit in September 2012. Used it 3 times and put it away for the winter. When we moved it to make room for the Christmas tree there was a lot of oil under the unit. It works great for the time we used it. So we will try another one hoping it will last longer.

Great for a portable

I have read the reviews and I need to point something out to future buyers. This is not a 4 in 1 unit. It does not have a heater, nor does it claim to. That is written on the first page. Also this unit can be noisy, all air conditioners can, even window but this is often used in small spaces and thus it is perceived as worse. When you have it set around the a normal temp the air conditioner will kick in and out. Some people complain because it goes from the quiet fan setting to air conditioning in the middle of the night. If this happens, it is probably because it has cooled off from beside and you can just switch it to fan mode easy by remote or one button that is slightly lit in the dark. Also there are 3 settings, people complaining of warm air most likely have the unit set on dehumidifier. Very common as I do it all the time and I am tech savy. Or better yet, my wife does it and I can't tell the difference because the sound is quite similar. Just press the button and it will kick in. That or you have it on fan but the noise difference is much more noticeable. You also have to have a temperature that is set lower than the current one for this to work. That should be obvious but you never know. Finally the complaints about this vs a regular window air conditioner. This uses hoses to pump outside air in cool it toss that air into the house and the heat form the unit goes out another hose. A window air conditioner leaves the heat outside the window and just brings air in and cools it while blowing it inside. It is doing much less. One last thing with regards to portability. People say this is tough to move around despite the handles and the wheels. If you have carpet, the unit is top heavy, push from the sides, not front or back. Otherwise use the handles and lift it. I personally live in essentially dessert climate and I throw this in the van and set it up in the tent. Cools off a tent at 44 degrees Celsius in about 5 minutes. I do it because I have two kids that are easily prone to heat stroke and we don't have a camper yet. Take my word, this thing packs up and goes in seconds.

Does not have a heater

I've had this unit for 2 years now and it's been working great and keeping my apt cool, but no way does this model have a heater . Mine does not have one and its the same model. Depending on the configuration of your apt, if its open concept , you need one AC, but if you have a hallway and your living room is away from bedrooms , the cold air will only stay in the living room, if your AC is in the living room away from bedrooms you need two of these ac's . Because it only cools about 400 sq ft contrary to what people are saying. Still a great AC, but I needed two to cool my whole apt and its only about 600sq ft. I recommend this unit over other portable ones because it blows much colder air than other ones that I've seen.

One Of The Best

My apartment was always hot. The sun was on my side of the apartment from 6am to around 3:30pm, so it heated up very fast. I had fans which did the trick for just cooling me down, but whenever I had company over, we always had to sit out on the deck because it was to hot inside. This product not only looks elegant but cools down your apartment, I found, in minutes! My apartment alone is 1400 sqft. The living room and kitchen are cooled down in minutes just on the lowest fan speed and there are 2 other speeds. Also, this product has a built in shutdown and startup timer, which comes in handy. This not only a air conditioner but also a de-humidifier and heater, so it can be used in the winter as a heater. If your looking for a air conditioner hands down, this is the one you have to purchase!
