D-Link DIR-850L

Just replaced an older N-generation D-Link router. This new one is consistently faster for the same tasks. It also is much more capable of running several tasks simultaneously. Previously my old router could download but it would kill my browsing. Now I can simultaneously download at maximum speeds (1.2MB/sec), continue browsing with little noticeable lag, and transfer files wirelessly to my media computer at almost maximum speed (5+MB/sec). The only issue was the setup. The browser would not allow access to the router's configuration page. Resetting the router fixed the problem, and the setup proceeded as described in the instructions. So just be aware that you may (probably) need to push the reset button before you can set it up.

Great Router

I did a lot of research before purchasing this router to replace one that did not have wireless option. I have had it now for a couple of weeks & this unit is a "plug & play" design for both wired & wireless. I have no idea why anyone would have problems with this router, I was up & running within minutes. The wireless feature has great range & steady power in every corner of our 2 story house & even in the driveway 100ft from the router I still get full bars on my tablet. I would recommend this router to anyone looking for one. This is also a lot smaller than the pictures make it look to be & can fit almost anywhere.

Installed and Up and Running in five minutes

I followed the quick install instructions and had no problems, it installed quickly and easily. It's been three or four weeks now and my WIFI signal hasn't dropped once; I bought this one to replace my older on where the signal dropped periodically. I do not yet have any AC devices to make use of the 5GHz band, but I'm pleased that once I do, it will be supported.

Works well

We have been using my ISP's new gateway for the past few months and the wireless connection has been driving us nuts. Their tech support provided very little help. I pulled the trigger and decided to get a separate router instead. Not one issue so far and the signal is strong throughout the house. Also watching online videos have improved. It almost never buffers now.

Look Elsewhere

I bought this router about a month ago when it was on sale. It doesn't work anywhere near as well as my old D-Link router with the dual antennas which is several years old. Even when I am in the same room as this router I often only get one or two bars when I'm using my Wi-Fi; even my own phone carrier gives me 4 to 5 bars in that same room. This piece of junk is going back.

Does not see files. Does not have USB 3.0

In the user manual D-Link shows how to set up USB 3.0 but there is no such option. Also, this router was not able to read the files from 2 different USB drives. I don't recommend this router. It's going back to the store. In the

Great product! at a reasonable price

All in all i am quite impressed with the product and it's AC band. Connected it to my mac on the AC band and transferring data over the network is amazingly fast. Originally I was planning on getting an airport extreme but all in all the specs of this router are on par with the extreme plus [...] cheaper too. This was a win win

Reliable, has great range

I hooked up the D-Link DIR 850L to my Shaw Cisco router to improve the wi-fi in my house. I eventually had to get Shaw to bridge the modem as it was causing issues with my VPN. I've had no issues, the router has never dropped the signal and the range is impressive. I have the router located at the front of the house, main floor.....using my wi-fi manager, I discovered I now get full bars in my backyard.

Good speed/connectivity with multiple devices. I like the nice clean look of it. Found installation a bit frusterating. I had to do a firmware update before I was able to save the new passwords.

Quite satisfied

A good product for a reasonable price. It performs well, with high speed throughout our apartment. The setup was a little more difficult than I expected; what appeared on the printed instructions and what appeared on the computer screen as I tried to set it up were quite different. But anyone with average IT skills should be able to push through and get it done. Having got over that small hurdles, I am a happy customer.

So Far Seems Pretty Solid

I have had this router for two weeks and so far everything is great. I have two iPhones a wireless printer, a PS3 and two computers running, not a single dropped connection yet. I couldn't be happier. Hopefully it continues to be a good purchase.

Works well with VoIP

My old router kept on having issue with my VoIP adapter and needed to find a router which handles VoIP traffic better. After testing several AC routers, I decided to keep this one. Not only my VoIP works well, also there is a performance improvement with other wireless devices. Overall I am pleased with this router and worth the money for me.

Great Router for University Students.

Picked up this router about two weeks ago because my room mates and I were in need of a faster router with increased range. I live with six other people so when all of us were using it, it got quite slow at times with our previous router. Now I am noticing speeds up to three times as fast.

Great product and GREAT SUPPORT!

After reading reviews I chose this router and am pleased I did so. Because of my system I needed so help from D-Link support which was worth 5 out of 5 just for that. This is the second time I have used D-Link support and for that reason I would stay loyal to them. And the router itself is all I could ask for.

First "AC" Router

Just bought this router a few days ago and it is working great! signal around the house is always excellent! Guy at futureshop helped pick this out and recommended it to be placed at the 2nd level of my home but I kept it at the first level because thats where my old router was and most of the computers are there anyway. Highly recommend this router! no lag with my sister playing ps3 online, brother watchin netflix, dad browsing the internet, and me on my laptop playing online games!

Excellent value for price

My old router kept dropping the connection, so I though it was time for a new one. I love the look of this because we don't have the ugly antennas sticking out all over the place. Performance is phenomenal, and we have noticed a definite increase in speed to the 2 laptops and the iPad. No buffering time any longer for NetFlix. I'm not that much of a techie, and the installation process was painless.

My old router served me well, but it started cutting signal in and out. Got this router and I am very happy with its performance. The setup was easy and simple. The wireless signal is strong through out the house. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product.

Great Router

I bought this because my wireless Shaw router kept dropping my connection. This router solved that issue and is much better. It's fast and easy to setup. I'm also a fan of the new design. Why pay more for an AC router when you don't need to?

Excellent Streaming Router

With this Router, I am getting the signal strength of good to excellent through out my home. No difference noticed in buffering or playback when streaming HD files or playing files from my NAS. Overall, this is a very good, very fast router with many great features. Highly recommended.
