Unit is awesome but the instalation kit is useless

The good: makes my bedroom super cold! The bad: the unit is quite large, heavy, and the hose is too short. Think it's meant to go directly below a window. The patio door kit was too short as well, and too thick to fit properly in the door jam. It's also pretty noisy and didn't come with enough screws. Unless you're putting this unit directly in front of a window, plan on a separate trip to the hardware store. I'll give this product 4 stars because the cooling unit is very efficient, but everything that comes with it may as well go in the trash.

Satisified

At the time of this review, the Danby 12000 BTU AC is on sale right now. you'd be a fool not to get that one. This machine works like a charm. The dehumidifier can actually do quiet a bit of cooling too as long as you have the exhaust hose attached. the only thing i wish is that i could manually change the humidity settings. it's probably preset to ideal humidity, but i prefer even lower humidity because of my allergies. Magi (a previous reviewer) is mistaken though, the unit does not self-evaporate like some other devices, the water is either emptied into a tank or you have the option of continuous drain through a supplied hose.

Great purchase

At the time of writing this review there is a danby 12000 BTU portable AC on sale for cheaper than the price of this one. Go for that one if it's still on sale. This unit is fine. it does as it's supposed to. I get muscle cramps when i have it set to cooling mode so i usually set it to dehumidifier. it actually brings the temperature down quiet a bit. Maybe 5-10 degrees. i think Magi is mistaken when she mentions a 'self evaporative' feature. it has a tank for emptying occasionally or alternatively you can attach the hose for continuous draining, but no self-evaporative feature.

Impressed

I purchased my Danby Air Conditioner July/12 as my house was 90F with the extream heat wave and I am very happy with it. For the size of the unit its quite quiet looks good and pretty simple to use. I noticed a difference within just a few hours of using it. The only thing I didn't like is my house has old push out windows so I had to install it in my front door and the vent kit was to wide to fit so I had to cut it to fit.

Easy to install and neat

Very heavy to transport , make sure you have 2 people, easy to install when compared to the hassle of the portable window ones.Was expecting it to cool off the room better- brings it down to 75' f, still very satisfied with the product.Not as noisy as some other a/c's we has in the past. I am taking one point off for it's capacity.
