expensive mistake

Was recently contracted to maintain a fire alarm device that required a laptop and a serial connection. Went to future shop and explained to salesmen the intended application. Bought the recommended laptop and $60 usb to serial adapter. Spent the next six hours discovering that the supplied disc does not have drivers for windows 7, called dynex support and was told he hates this cable....hmmmm..nice. Then directed me to an unofficial website to download some drivers that a customer found worked. hmmm...uncomfortable. Tried it all and nothing worked. Total cost laptop......$800 converter.$60 lost time..$620 overall experiece.....PRICELESS

No Break support

Decent device for simple configs, but god help you if you need to recover a device. You cannot send the break string through this adapter so your up the creek if you need to enter ROMMON etc..... The drivers are mediocre and difficult to find, it does work on virtually all major os's (Windows xp -> 7 / OSX / Linux)

Problematic with windows 7 architecture no driver support . Chipset manufaturer recommends not using cheaply made Chinese cables

Works like a charm

I'm an IT professional, we still use DB-9 serial to setup Unix servers and Network routers and switches by dumb terminal emulators. Unfortunately most modern laptops don't have serial ports anymore, hard to setup equipment in a datacentre without one.I've tried the cheap OEM no-name brand adapters but their drivers are bad and don't work properly.This product is pricey but it simply works, load your driver plug it in and it works like a charm.

Works like a charm

I purchased the Dynex USB to Serial Adapter to move data back forth between my PC and my GPS units. The driver installed without a glitch Windows XP Home Edition and the adapter came up right away.
