Good Balance

I bought one of these just to take some of the clutter off the pro monitor. Imagine my surprise when it looked just as good as the PA248Q Professional edition. I was planning on adding a 3rd PA Series monitor but now I'll just be buying another one of these and save a couple hundred bucks. I can't tell you how it performs for gamers but for commercial photography and video editing it's as good as the high end per-calibrated screens for a fraction of the price.

Great buy for 23"

I was searching for the right monitor for gaming. I wanted to get an all-in-one that had 1080p resolution, had hdmi input and the size that was not too small or too large. Found this monitor to exactly suit my needs. I compared it with my other brand 'samsung', and haven't found 23" under [the price] so in that aspect this is a good deal. As soon as I brought it home I hooked it up to my gaming console I found that it didn't play sound. For that you need to buy a separate wire of female stereo split cable. Other than that the box comes with DVI and VGA cables which is great if you ever wanted to hook up to a desktop. Overall in terms of visual quality it's very pristine and the monitor stand is adjustable and sturdy and not too weak.

Good Monitor

I used this monitor for my main monitor today. So far so good, it worked well with my dell desktop and my dell monitor. I have 1 DisplayPort and a VGA port on my desktop. I used a displayport->DVI adapter to solve my problem. However, the dell monitor has to be connected through displayport->DVI to enable dual monitors. Or I could only use one monitor at a time. Again, this has nothing to do with the HP monitor, it works well. Just mention this in case anyone has the same problem. Btw, changing settings of this monitor is a little bit annoying because the buttons are at the bottom of the monitor. every time you press them, you lift the monitor a little bit.

This monitor blows me away.

I plugged it in and powered it up as soon as I got home. It's truly one amazing monitor. I used UDPixel to detect any dead pixels and to perform a colour test. None could be found. The colours are vibrant and they pop. Black is actually black, not some off shade of grey. The fonts are crisp. Pictures look great and the viewing angles are amazing. There is absolutely no bad viewing angle to this monitor. I can read every bit of text on the monitor, even at max res., standing 4 feet away and pacing back + forth in front of the monitor. Some reviews mentioned about the flimsy base. I don't see that at all. This unit has one of the most solid bases of any monitors in its class. The besel is attractive, the setting buttons are easily accessible and you don't need a lot of force to enable them, thereby shaking the monitor. Other monitors I used requires so much force to work the buttons that your second hand would be required to hold it in place while configuring the settings. Barring any future technical issues with this monitor, it's a keeper. My previous Samsung lasted me about 6 years before I decided to upgrade. Lets hope this will serve me just as well. If I had more desk space and actually required a second monitor, I would not hesitate to purchase another as a second monitor. I'm not one to write lengthy reviews like this but at this price, run to get yours they are out of stock! Just my five cents worth.
