Good budget laptop that does everything.

This is a pretty solid laptop. I've had mine for 3 years now, used it regularly as a university student. It runs most of the games I play on med-high, generally high enough that it isn't ugly and the improvements are small and picky. It runs multiple internet windows well, and has lots of space. It does give me a reading every time I play music for a while, warning me that the audio card is using a ton of energy. It uses almost one entire CPU out of 4, so whatever. The hard drive went after a year, warrantied nice and smoothly. It does run extraordinarily hot though. I don't know how it doesn't cook itself when I'm pushing it. If I'm playing a first person shooter I literally cannot touch the side of my laptop with the vent because it will BURN me. Don't use it on your lap unless you are okay with sweating to death. Other than the heat, its been a dream come true for me. :)

Great notebook except.......

This is a decent laptop for its price. I can play most games on high/ultra high it was easy to downgrade and works flawlessly except for the amd power saving setting. the cpu automatically goes into power saving mode when you are on battery and the undercarriage on the notebook lets out a high pitched whine. The Intel variants both have the same issue. it seems the fix for the Intel version is to disable CPU c4 in the bios however that only pertains to the Intel models. They should make a fix for the amd variant as that would improve the quality ten fold. Other than that this is a superb notebook. (The term Laptop has been depreciated because of injury from customers. the term used now is notebook)

bittersweet

I bought this laptop, at first I thought it was really cool. IT WAS! I was able to multitask with ease, startup was less than 30 seconds long! I was even able to play graphics intensive video games at it without it lagging or anything! It was a dream budget laptop... at first. 3 months after use, it's motherboard fried out. I was able to go without a laptop for a month (it's a bit hellish, being a university student, not being able to write notes on your laptop). After it was repaired, which took 3 weeks, I noticed a few problems, everything just became slower. What's worse is, ever since the incident happened, I've been experiencing some wlan problems. From time to time, the internet would just shut off completely, and each time I would try to turn it back on, it would say that it was turning on while nothing was happening, and I had to restart my laptop a few times. The problem slowly went away by itself. I tried calling both windows and HP support but they blamed it on my router (which is weird because I have another laptop that I use at the same time right next to this and the internet didn't shut down for that one). Ever since after the motherboard failure, I've been getting some strange errors. I've been getting DLL errors especially after just putting my laptop on sleep mode, and one of those errors you get from windows which asks you to send a crash report. I called HP and microsoft again, and after making me do "helpful complicated techy things", they made me uncheck a box that said "pop up error report when something happens" or something like that. Yes, because hiding the problem totally fixes the computer! It's been a year now. I've had to send this to the shop more than 3 times, I've had hibernating problems, webcam problems, wlan problems, and my battery life went from 5.5 to 2.5 hours. This is truly a remarkable piece of $[...] machinery! 100% would recommend to anyone willing to go dive through these errors! Did I mention that even in the lowest of temperatures of winter 2014, the fan struggles to even run, and has my computer lagging? All this while I've paid for reliable antivirus softwares :) keep it up HP!

1 Year

HP pavillion g6 lasted me about a year before the battery completely died. I had to keep the charger in at all times, otherwise it would crash.
