works quite well

So far the only issue I have with it is that the PVR files are quite large. They fill my 16GB flash drive completely with only a few hours of video.

Great Product

I use this as a PVR to record my shows over the air, I dont subscribe to cable . I use a external 1TB hard drive and the recordings are 1080 HD quality. I love it. Record everything then watch at my leisure. Better than cable. I'm in Toronto and can see the CN Tower and live on the 23rd floor so I can receive 28 stations. For me this perfect .

It is what I expected.

I received 7 English channels and it is what I expected. Cut the cable to save some money as I spend most my time on internet.

It works

I just bought the digital converter box and it works. I got more than 7 channels. Only issue I have is the picture is not so clear. Not sure it is due to weather or location. Anyway I am happy it works.

Not worth the money

This unit is not worth the money. It did not work any better than the older, cheaper model I had.

dissapointed

this device is very primitive. if your buying this for the personnel recording function, don't bother. As mentioned in several on-line reviews the recording feature is so basic its almost unusable. also, support on-line or otherwise is non existent. hopefully something better comes along soon.

Already on replacement unit

I wish I had seen the PVR advice on these units when I bought my 1st one at the beginning of February. The PVR function is why I chose this brand. I purchased my HW-150-PVR to replace a Tivax STB-128 that lasted almost 4 years. Both of these brands tend to be really slow in response to inputs. But one of the pluses of the Homeworx is the fact that there is a website with a forum to go to for advice. You need that forum because the manual is useless. Most of the functions of the HW-150 are intuitive, but not all of them. For example the manual channel add does not work unless you know the real channel number of the broadcaster's frequency and manually put it in. To get the real channel number v.s. the "virtual" number you see ordinarily, you can go to tvfools dot com. The two stars of my rating is simple. 1 star for the bad unit, and 1 star for having a website and forum.

homeworx hw-150pvr dissapointed

Well it does what it says. It tunes in and converts annalogue too analogue. However the pvr function is very very primitive. Do not purchase for this function as you will be disappointed. Also remote layout is brutal and extremely sluggish, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 pushes too register. Would not recomand for the money.

Owner - 4 months and counting - very satisfied

Overall this is a good buy if you want to get Free HD digital signals onto your older, analogue (ie old school) TV sets. Check [online] to see what type of signal/station reception you can receive over the air. Then, if the quantity of signal receipt is enough, jump on the bandwagon and buy this unit. PVR/Timeshift feature is great. Lots of options (Favourite options, setting recordings, time power on and off, and more) make this a good little unit. As one reviewer stated, the UI is a little clunky, and I agree. It's not intuitive. The remote buttons are fairly well laid out but not as sleek and intuitive as Sony's or Panasonic's. But it gets the job done well enough. You'll need to factor into your costs an HDTV Antenna, a Coaxial cable, and maybe a second one of these units after you try (and like) this first one. ;) I'm about to buy a second for the TV downstairs. We're PVR'ing the Olympics onto a 64GB Flash drive as I type this so when our little one goes to sleep we can catch up on the day's events. GO TEAM CANADA GO!

Very pleased with this purchase!

I love this product, 3 crystal clear channels (this is what people recieve, where I live) very enjoyable to watch. Easy to set up. The TV program menu always works for me and the PVR feature works also. I tried looking at some photographs from a memory stick, simple enough to do, just insert the memory stick and find photos on the menu, but the images on my TV are not as clear as they are on my computer, for example. Overall, I would recommend this product.

Excellent Product

We are very pleased with this HD Box. The picture is perfect and it provides information about current programs as well as the upcoming program for each channel. Haven't tried the PVR feature yet.

Excellent Product!!!

This box was a wonderful investment for me. I live on the western edge of downtown Calgary and face north. The three main Calgary transmission towers are located WNW from my apartment window at 3.3, 5.6 and 7.1 miles distance, respectively. With the box and a medium priced antenna I am able to pick up six digital television stations including CBC, CTV, Global, CityTV, Omni and a family network. I actually get a better signal than what I did with cable TV. In other words I get a much sharper picture and sound, likely because the signals are not compressed like cable providers have to do. I had just cancelled my cable subscription as I was fed up with high monthly fees, being offered little more than 40 channels of repetition and commercials. I seldom watch television other than the local morning and evening news. It’s just too bad it took me so long to figure out I could bypass cable networks with a digital TV converter box. Anyway, I would recommend this product to anyone who think they can get reception. The main obstacle will be receiving a signal with the antenna and the interference between the transmission towers, otherwise It’s a great investment!!!

good for money

menu's a little cheap looking, but works great - very clear picture (assuming are within antenna range). and includes PVR if you put in a memory stick or usb harddrive -- excellent feature. .
