this device is very primitive. if your buying this for the personnel recording function, don't bother. As mentioned in several on-line reviews the recording feature is so basic its almost unusable. also, support on-line or otherwise is non existent. hopefully something better comes along soon.

Already on replacement unit

I wish I had seen the PVR advice on these units when I bought my 1st one at the beginning of February. The PVR function is why I chose this brand. I purchased my HW-150-PVR to replace a Tivax STB-128 that lasted almost 4 years. Both of these brands tend to be really slow in response to inputs. But one of the pluses of the Homeworx is the fact that there is a website with a forum to go to for advice. You need that forum because the manual is useless. Most of the functions of the HW-150 are intuitive, but not all of them. For example the manual channel add does not work unless you know the real channel number of the broadcaster's frequency and manually put it in. To get the real channel number v.s. the "virtual" number you see ordinarily, you can go to tvfools dot com. The two stars of my rating is simple. 1 star for the bad unit, and 1 star for having a website and forum.

homeworx hw-150pvr dissapointed

Well it does what it says. It tunes in and converts annalogue too analogue. However the pvr function is very very primitive. Do not purchase for this function as you will be disappointed. Also remote layout is brutal and extremely sluggish, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 pushes too register. Would not recomand for the money.

Owner - 4 months and counting - very satisfied

Overall this is a good buy if you want to get Free HD digital signals onto your older, analogue (ie old school) TV sets. Check [online] to see what type of signal/station reception you can receive over the air. Then, if the quantity of signal receipt is enough, jump on the bandwagon and buy this unit. PVR/Timeshift feature is great. Lots of options (Favourite options, setting recordings, time power on and off, and more) make this a good little unit. As one reviewer stated, the UI is a little clunky, and I agree. It's not intuitive. The remote buttons are fairly well laid out but not as sleek and intuitive as Sony's or Panasonic's. But it gets the job done well enough. You'll need to factor into your costs an HDTV Antenna, a Coaxial cable, and maybe a second one of these units after you try (and like) this first one. ;) I'm about to buy a second for the TV downstairs. We're PVR'ing the Olympics onto a 64GB Flash drive as I type this so when our little one goes to sleep we can catch up on the day's events. GO TEAM CANADA GO!
