Much better experience than Chromecast

I tried out this one, as well as, Chromecast. Even though this is a little more money (probably for the remote), it gets much better reception (for me) and streams all their channels more consistently. The PLEX channel allows you to stream your local content to the TV as well...this was very difficult to do with Chromecast. Would recommend and will be buying a couple more for my other 'dumb' TVs.

An easy 10

I could not believe something so small, that weighs the same as a simple USB stick could stream videos at 1080p. This device is simply amazing, streaming Netflix at 1080p, watching YouTube, even streaming video online with Plex. There's very slight lag, but considering the size of this thing it's acceptable. Simply amazing.

Doesn't work

Just arrived, remote won't pair with hdmi stick, support is useless everything they suggest i had tried long before contacting. Their solution is to return it - and buy a better product... lol.

Great

I am really pleased with the unit. Bought a second one for my bedroom. Not having the problems with loading and freezing that some people seem to have. I have had the units since the day they were released. I find lots of interesting content but did not cancel my TV subscription so the best of booth worlds.

Makes regular TV set a "smart" TV

My TV has a USB port adjacent to the HDMI port so powering up the ROKU was simple and convenient. The setup was also easy and quick. I also have a ROKU 3 and the only difference that I have noticed is that the remote for the ROKU HDMI Streaming Stick is not equipped with the earphone jack. Since I am not a gamer I cannot comment on that aspect, but I am completely satisfied with it.

Roku has NO Search feature in Canada

After difficulty getting Roku Chat Support to provide accurate answers to easy question I got it to work .... then shocked to learn none of the Roku products in Canada have the Roku Search feature which allows as user to search by Title, Actor Name or Director Name.

ROKU

I haven't used the ROKU for less than a month now...I only use it to stream Netflix and so far it has very good....no problems to report. The ROKU gets quite hot so when I'm done watching Netflix I usually pull out the power cord. Next time I need it I just plug it back in. The instructions do not tell you to do that, but I figure it can do no harm.

Does everything I expected and more

Reading lots of complaints that Netflix takes so long to load with this but it's no longer than Netflix takes to load on my smart Blu-ray player on another TV. Found some interesting free apps that I plan to explore. All told, the Roku HDMI Streaming Stick was very easy to set up and does everything I expected and more.

Best streamer

The ROKU 3500CA is the best streaming device to date, surpassing my expectations for streaming Netflix, NHL Gamecenter, and acting as a bullet proof PLEX client. I have all the streaming devices on the market, including AppleTV, Sony Google player, Chromecast and PS3, and the Roku beats them all. There are many channels; setup is a snap; it takes no space, and it requires no harness of wires. Make sure you have a router that will allow you to alter DNS settings, though. There is no way to modify DNS settings on the Roku itself.

Awesome

This is an awesome streaming device. The only complaint is the long loading time for Netflix but once it's open, it works perfectly. 1080p video looks flawless and the remote does a decent enough job. My tv has a USB port so it gets power from that instead of hogging an AC outlet. Highly recommend!!!

Save your money...

This device installed relatively easy, but not able to connect in the 5GHz (802.11ac) band, despite it's supposed 2 antennae. The only channel out of the "500+" that is worth watching is Netflix. Chuckle works for free, but is loaded with commercials every 10 - 15 minutes. Forget American channels. In fact, forget about getting Canadian channels too. CTV, CBC, Global are not an option. The only good thing I can say is that there is an app to replace their cheap remote.

Not what I expected

This is not at all what I expected it to be. First off I thought this would enable me to stream my internet onto my TV instead of using a HDMI cable. All this provides is free movies, older ones at that, no live TV and when I started to watch a movie it cut to a commercial within the first ten minutes and showed the same commercial three times over so I turned the damned thing off. I will be returning this tomorrow.

Not what i thought it would do

Received this week and took it back today., I have an apple tv and needed something for the basement , price seemed good, so lets try it , very slow to load and channels it offers are rubbish, a lot of them need subscription and payment, stick to apple tv, superfast, the only advantage I saw was the usb power supply but besides that nothing, hope apple will add extra channels soon,

Easy to install

Worked perfectly after installing it in my Samsung LED TV, turning instantly into smart TV. Love watching Netflix and accessing my Facebook page off the big screen. Also fun to show off photos and videos using the smartphone app. Siri voice commands to type search terms is handy.

A little underpowered.

I was hopping for a little more with this stick. Pros: WiFi was strong and stable. Easy to setup the device up. Cons: I find it's to underpowered and often lags and freezes while using the premium apps such as Netflix. The device really struggles to keep up while navigating. I have had to unpower it on more then one occasion just to reset it. Apps also take a very long time to load up compared to the usual times. I can not recommend this device to people looking for a Roku.

No channels for Canadians

An absolute waste of time and money. Doesn't offer big name channels in Canada. HBO Go, Spotify, and WWE to name a few. Only offers a limited no of, and useless, channels. I mean why did they even launch it in Canada if we were only gonna see 200 out of 10000 channels here?

Good price, but a little underpowered.

I picked this up today, Can't beat the price, yes.. but be warned that this stick is a little underpowered and is quite often laggy and crashes. Most noticeable on apps like netflix it's clunky and slow and often locking up. Apps are also VERY slow to start up. Price is great, but performance not so great. I guess we get what we pay for. Few dollars more and you can step up to the full size roku models and have a much better experience. I will be returning this device.
