Great Sub

I've had a lot of speakers in my home, most of them went back but as soon as I heard this one I knew it was a keeper. I had a Klipsch Sub-12 that was OK for movies but was terrible for music- very muddy, you couldn't distinguish individual notes. This one is tight and clean for music and also will make the whole room shake when stuff blows up in movies. I had to play around with positioning for a few days. The old spot behind the TV produced either dead or boomy areas in the room. It now does double duty as a stand for my right front speaker where it also sounds perfect. An unexpected bonus: dialogue in movies is majorly improved. My center channel is a Klipsch RC-52 and I thought it sounded just fine. I now set it to "small" on my Yamaha RX-V475 (I highly recommend this receiver also) and the sub takes over the low dialogue so voices, especially male, now sound much richer AND they also seem to be coming from screen center instead of above it where the RC-52 is located. I have crossover at 160. Just a great sub.

Love it

I had two subs; the one I replaced this with was sitting against a half wall. It sounded ok, but I was going to return it the Klipsch in all honesty. Then swapped it with a small Paradigm in the opposite corner, and wow. It is perfect. I watch a lot of hard rock concerts, and this gives just what I was looking for - that concert, bass drum thump throughout the couch. I set the volume almost full on the sub and leave it. Otherwise control the settings through the receiver with the remote. Raise it high and the eq a bit heavy for music, and I now plan on keeping this for a long time. It took two of us to carry in the 70lb large box. The first sign that this sub has some kick (once positioned correctly).

Big sound, bigger enclosure

Pros: LOUD, deep authoritative bass, 15 inch subwoofer Cons: Big box, heavy, not wife or décor friendly, complete overkill for most rooms I was looking to add some serious bass to my large basement theater (>3000 cubic feet), and this monster delivered. Performance wise I have exactly ZERO complaints about this subwoofer. While setting up, I recorded a peak volume level of 121 db. at 30 Hz, this is rock concert level. Even at lower volumes it vibrated anything loose within about 30 feet in all directions including the kitchen above. Seeing dust vibrate out of pot lights and fall to the floor was interesting. My only complaints about this unit all relate to the size of the enclosure which admittedly is non-negotiable with a 15” subwoofer. It’s a giant, black, heavy box that is an eyesore. Don’t count on hiding it behind a sofa or under an end table as the sub will vibrate the hell out of anything close to it. Being 26 inches deep (plus and inch for cables) the sub was too deep to hide in standard 24 inch cabinetry. Bottom line: If you want to hide the sub in a cabinet I’d pick a different model, as custom AV cabinetry was both expensive and time consuming.

Have this paired with RF82 and RC62 and RB61. Mostly HT usage and gaming. Very impressed with the deep, tight base. Shakes the whole house if i turn it up.
