Are you ready for a list?

Just purchased this dishwasher...it was installed three days ago. 1. I find that when the washer starts to heat up and is going into dry mode that my whole kitchen smells of hot rubber. 2. The washer gets so hot during the dry cycle that I can barely put my hand on the front of the machine. 3. The operation light flashes for the entire wash cycle and it's abnormally bright. I actually had to put a piece of black electric tape over it because the blue of the light was bouncing off anything reflective in the kitchen - I would feel sorry for anyone with a high gloss kitchen. :) (I live in a small Toronto house - you notice everything) 4. Finally, what's up with the little song it sings when the washing finishes? It would wake up a sleeping baby in a small house. A great thing is that it's quiet, you can barely hear it at most times. Also, I find the space in the racks is excellent. I love the top rack for the cutlery and I haven't had any issues with my plates and wine glasses not fitting the racks. I know I sound particular, but aren't you allowed to be particular when you spend $[...] for a dishwasher? Plus, [other retailer] and places like it don't let you try out the machine first...it's silly.

Good dishwasher, another story for the dish racks.

Purchased this dishwasher to replace a 9 year old Kenmore Elite unit that fried its control board. The features on the LG are very good, and it washes the dishes silently. You have to be very close to the dishwasher to know it is on. However, I am very disappointed in the dish and glass racks. I do not have any special glasses or dishes, but I have a very hard time fitting them in the racks. The plates roll around if you are not careful. Forget about efficiently stacking bowls in the dish rack. You have multiple configurations for the rack, but none work as well as my older Kenmore(or any other dishwasher). The glasses do not fit well in the top rack. They easily fall down or, do not fit at all in the rows provided. The adjustable middle rack keeps falling out of place. I thought I was the only one with this problem. However, talking about my dishwasher with a co-worker, we realized we both had LG dishwashers and had the same problem with the dish racks. Note of caution, if you plan on purchasing this dishwasher, bring some plates. bowls, and glasses to the store and try them first. If LG does come out with an improved rack, I would gladly purchase one to replace these ones.

Great Washer

We've had this washer for about 3 weeks now and so far has been working great. Extremely quiet that we can barely hear it running except for the slight sound of the water running to fill it or the odd gurgle in the sink drain when emptying. The best part is the 3rd rack up high to put the sharp knives and utensils in. Th bottom rack allows for all of the tines to be collapsed if required. I have no problem placing the plates in the rack; they stand up fine and are still in place after the cycle is finished. The drying function is superior to anything I've seen. Everything, including plastics, comes out completely dry except for some cups that have deep divots that trap the water. I would recommend to anyone if asked.

Good washer, bad dish racks

Really wanted to rate this washer higher. Very quiet and gets dishes clean mostly. The main problem is so ridiculous for a hi-tech washer that you can hardly understand how it happened. The LG washer racks do not allow for plates, glasses and dishes to stand upright in the rack. We have tried everything possible to make it work, but have given up after weeks of trying.
