returned it after a week

Needed this for work to be more mobile in a hospital setting, but found Windows 8.1 difficult to use with very little support and tutorials. The snap on keyboard was very intermittent and often didn't work when i needed it. Returned it after a week, my iPad isn't suitable, so kinda stuck on what to use.

Excellent performance

I have been using surface pro for about 3 weeks now, and i must say i am happy with the performance. pen is amazing for taking notes. the only thing i wish was a little better is battery life, i am getting roughly 4 hours of battery life which i think isn't that good for a tablet. but other then battery life, i am very pleased with surface.

Not perfect, but unbeatable value

I have been an exclusive Mac user since 2003 - when I purchased my first 12" Powerbook G4. I have always used Macs ever since (despite working in the PC Industry for a while). I use an new model iMac now, an iPad Mini, an iPhone and an Apple TV. So, when I needed a notebook, I naturally turned to the MacBook Air. I was impressed with it's power when we purchased one for my mother for Christmas. But I didn't want to spend another $1000+ on an occasional, business computer. I looked at Chromebooks (Not really a true solution for me), and Ultrabooks (might as well get a Macbook Air), as well as cheap Windows 8 laptops. Then I saw the Surface Pro on sale. It has the same specs as the Air (More or less, chipset and battery life are older on the surface), but came in at half the price. I can do anything on this, and find I am using it for more than I thought. Manipulating a photo with the included stylus was easy, even in Paint, and watching video and sending it to my Smart TV was a breeze. It may lack some fit and finish (It's a bit heavy and the battery life isn't as good as the new Surface Pro 2s), but with what it offers, how can you beat it? I am even liking this metro interface. I can see where it would be a total drag with just a mouse, but it is very intuitive when using your finger. I haven't owned a Microsoft Product in over a decade, but this thing has me convinced that innovation doesn't only come from Cupertino.

Great Tablet, Very Happy

First got the Surface RT, thought that is was going to be enough tablet. While still a lot better than a ipad still had 1 arm tied behind my back. So far very happy with this little lap top and the availability of having a full Microsoft Office Suite and having Adobe Lightroom on a tablet!

Purchased tonight..going back tomorrow.

I selected the Surface because I use Excel and Powerpoint on the daily and wanted portability of my work via tablet pc.(Fyi: These programs are not pre-loaded and the sales rep at the store, even when asked, failed to let me know). More annoyed with that than it being an actual issue with the tablet. However, is awkward to handle when not at a desk because of rigidity and is heavy compared to competitors. Needs a more functional operating system, switching between apps is choppy and it's generally boring to use. Also i found the screen resolution faded and washed out. Only pro I found is the touch keyboard with back-light which doubles as an ultra slim cover is pretty cool... That's it.
