Amazing Tablet for Kids

We've had our nabi 2 tablets since the end of 2012. Our children thoroughly enjoy playing with and learning on this tablet. We've found the customer support on the nabitablet Facebook page to be useful and quick to respond. We highly recommend this over any of the toy tablets and other overpriced tablets on the market. It seems as if some customers that have left reviews are not quite as tech savvy as they may try and lead others to believe. I'll try to respond to as many of their issues as I can, so that you the consumer get the actual facts when deciding to purchase this device for your children. APPS: The nabi comes preloaded with a number of apps, many of which are demos. These are easily uninstalled to make room for new ones. The tablet also has a lot of internally developed apps such as Chore List, Fooz Kids Videos, Fooz Kids Websites, Fooz Kids University (English, Math, Science, Social Studies), Spinlets+TV, Spinlets+ Music, *Mini Mogul, *Time Controls, Treasure Box and *Wings University which you are not going to find in other app markets. * Available after an Over-the-Air updates. You also have access to the nabi App Zone which is a small market with apps specific for kids, which often have bundles of apps for sale. Additionally since Amazon Canada has finally been upgraded to have an Appstore, you can easily download and install apps from their Appstore app. Amazon also provides a regularly paid for app for free everyday. While they are not always great, the ones that are kid-friendly keep the tablet fresh for those little minds wanting to expand. If you're missing the Google Apps there are number of fairly simple workarounds for sideloading apps from your smartphone or computer onto the tablet. BATTERY LIFE: We get between 6 or 7 hours of use out of the tablet on a regular basis. STORAGE SPACE: While the hardware specs state that it comes with 8GB of storage, as with all other tablets on the market, this includes the space taken up by the Android OS and the nabi Mode overlay. As the nabi 2 tablet comes with a bunch of other content the space available is a bit less then my Nexus 7. With the latest update installed and all of the preloaded apps that can be uninstalled removed the tablet has 4.24GB of free space. I've easily had 50 plus apps installed at one time but have learned to keep on only the favorites and to cycle through new ones periodically. Just because you grab it from the Amazon website, as a free app, doesn't mean you have to install it right away. TOTALLY CANADIAN FRIENDLY: As I said we've had ours since last summer and the only apps that do not work are the Nook app from a recent update and that is because Barnes & Noble does not have a presence in Canada. The other was the Cartoon Network app which requires cable service subscription and only lists US providers. Everything else works fine up here. The only other thing I can think of is that some of the predefined websites and videos found in the Fooz Kids apps do not provide access Canadians, because we live outside the US and their broadcasting/copyright laws. These apps are fully customizable though, so those sites or videos can be removed and Canadian sites and accessible videos can be added. Everything else works fine. NOT WATERPROOF! Hope that provides you with some comfort in your decision making. We love the tablet.

great tablet, but a few things to note

I like the tablet. Just a few things to note: This tablet only has 4 gig of usable storage on it. It says that it has 8 gig in the advertisement, but 4 gig of the tablet is used by operating systems, apps, etc. Also, 90 percent of the apps on this tablet are demo apps. They are great kid apps, but you need to buy them to unlock their full potential. You need to invest a little in apps to make it worthwhile. Google app store does not work with it, but with a little investigation, it is fairly easy to get apps from google app store using google drive and bluestacks. It is a great tablet if you know what you are buying. I would still recommend buying it.

Great for Youngs Kids and Adults

Bad -This Tablet does not do Google App Store without a lot of work (Hacks). Works with most Android apps. The pre-installed programs are mostly for younger kids, grade 3 and under. Battery life is only about 6 hours and takes 4 hours to charge. Good - Can take a beating, the parent control is great. Powerful for the price. I use it as a adult tablet as much as the kids do. Is a real tablet, not a toy like many of the other kids tablet.

Great for Kids and adults

Is very fast with the 4 processors and 1 gig of RAM. Most of the games/apps that come with it are for the younger kids (grade 3 and below). You have to buy the older kids apps. Very well made and has been dropped many times without issue. Does not work with all Android apps and Google Play, that is why it is only getting 4 stars. The Mommy/daddy mode allows full access to the tablet so it works like most Android tablet. The kids mode is great for limiting what the kids can due and what they can surf.

Worth it!!

At first when my son got this tablet it was crashing..but now he really enjoys it. There's so many games and everytime he uses it, there's more things to do...The best part about this tablet is that I don't have to be concerned about what website he's on because I'm in control of it.......I would have given this tablet a 5 if it didn't crash in the beginning but I'm sooo glad I purchased it for him.

great bang 4 the buck

I can do anything on the nabi that I can do on my Transformer prime.. ihopefullybe able tpnt like the apps u can add any you like using progams such as airdroid(if u have another android tablet) or just add via usb pc connection ... compare similar childrens devices, the specs cant touch the nabi. Yes the battery life is less than stellar, but turning down brightness and turning off wifi can help increase battery life. My 4yr old loves it.. I would give 5 stars if not for the battery life.. future updates will hopefully be able to help.

Not Water Resistant, No Good For Kids.

I got this tablet , one for each of my children. I had previously loaded up my other tablet with educational software and let them use it for a while. They loved it and thougth well this one looked good. 1 of the 2 tablets was DOA out of the box, the other keeps crashing and the software is terrible. Latest NVIDIA chipset you say? This thing feels SOOO slow! Scrolling through and using apps is often unresponsive. The tablet is NOT waterproof, I would definetly NOT use it anywhere near water!!!! There are so many openings, I can look where the ports are and I can directly see the cirtuit boards and LCD screen.

very safe games and web browsing for kids

It is very easy to setup various profiles for your kid, mommy and daddy. I really like the fact that I don't have to go through and identify which specific site to block or unblock for the kids. Whatever built in to the kids' browser seem to work just perfectly in my test in the kids' mode. But in the mom's mode, I was able to do anything. This tablet is going to be shared by my 3.5 year old and me. The games options are plenty will definitely take my girl a while to get through all. I don't think she will be bored for a long time, especially with those creative drawing and colouring games. I highly recommend for parents who don't want to spend much time in patrolling what the kids do but still want to make sure the kids can surf safely. Cautions some videos links are unavailable in Canada, only available in the U.S. but still there are more than enough to entertain a young kid for sure.

Great Product!

The table is for KIDS! ( it's water proof both in getting wet and submerged ! ) can be dropped at 7 to 10 feet on both it's side and front screen without damage. The kicker is the main mode is in for kids there is a parents mode that takes you to Android Jelly Bean OS where an adult and kids can have a filed day in JELLY BEAN OS via the Android Play Store from Google and download Music apps liek Slacker and iHEART RADIO - Yourtube , and NETFLIX ! - this thing is a beast under the hood with the latest Nvidia Terge 3 chip set Quad core processor that is under the most recent Android tablets !! is ..overll 10/10 !!

Poor Battery Life, Mediocre Software

I recently purchased the Nabi 2 online and I am sad to report the battery life sucks, my kid plays with it for 30 minutes, leaves it aside, comes back to it maybe 2-3 hours later and it dies on her. I will be returning this product. Other than that games are good educational material is mediocre in the Canadian Edition.

Not what it promises

I recently purchased the Nabi and I was really let down by the preloaded content. There is content that you can buy after the fact that looks better and will hold your kids attention much longer. However, you're looking at a pretty hefty price tag. I was really excited about the Nabi, I read all of the reviews online and watched countless videos online. However, now that my kids and I were fiddling around with it, we found it very corny, very dull and not at all entertaining or educational. The one thing that I was excited about was the fact that it came with so much preloaded content and that I didn't have to buy anymore apps for my kids to play with. However, these apps are out of date, poorly illustrated and the songs are a nightmare. I feel like I might just have to return this and buy my kids the iPad or something with a bit more character because this tablet just wreaks of disappointment. This tablet is a great concept, the Nabi 2 however is just of very poor quality and caliber.

Just Amazing!

I recently purchased the Nabi 2 and my family and I are just amazed by everything the Nabi can do! All the apps and learning material is great! My 5 year-old hasn't put it down for a minute! It's a great educational tool and helps my child grasp some school concepts better. Although it is a great learning tool it is also great for games and video. I am a little bit dissapointed however that it does not support S-Video, I have an older TV and I would love to hook it up. However, you win some, you lose some. I would definitely recommend it to anyone! You're going to love it!
