This is an auto-focus lens...

Although I own the F1.4 version of this lens, I just wanted to point out one thing. A couple of reviewers have given the impression that this is a manual focus lens. While it can be used to manually focus, this is actually an auto focus lens. It's a "D" lens which means it does not have a focusing motor built into it. Instead, it requires a camera body which has a focusing motor in the camera body. Cameras like the D600/610, D7100 and certain others will autofocus with this lens no problem. Others like the D3200 and any other model that requires AF-S lenses will not. I recommend that anyone considering buying this lens do their research first and make sure it's compatible with your camera body. Other than that, I have read nothing but good reviews for this lens.

Can't beat the price.

If you're upgrading from a stock lens, this is the perfect one to shoot for, as long as you don't mind manual focus. Overall plastic feels a bit cheap, but the quality output is fantastic when you keep the price in mind. Definitely see this as a starter lens, and it's a no brainer if you've been shooting on a stock for a while. Video quality is overall much improved, reducing a bit of noise in low light, and the bokeh effect really adding to the cinematic experience. If you're wanting to use this lens for film on your dslr, make sure you have it setup for flat image first, or else you might deal with a bit of a noise problem.

Great Lens

I bought this lens, and LOVE IT! the only down side of it is, you dont have much room, so its best if you have a lot of space to back up to capture everyone in the picture. Its great for jewelry shots, or flowers. It also works great in doors as it goes down to f/1.5. It's FANTASTIC!
