Commodore 64 of phones

After 6 months of use my opinion is that Microsoft should be paing me to use this phone. It crashes or is unresponsive at least once a day. It is slow .... I mean sometimes by the time it gets around to doing something my clothes have gone out of style. I can only make a phone call using a headset since thespeaker and micorphone have quit working. Now I have to find out how to get it fixed since Future Shop does not fix phones. If you opt for this phone expect both software and harware issues.

great value

Great value. The maps/drive feature is amazing, you can download the maps so no data required when away from wifi. If you just need a great smartphone and are not worried about prestige, this is a great option.

Tremendous value!

You can't go wrong, even if you just use it as a media player or a second phone. Works well for podcasts and app playback. The screen is mediocre but for [price]. Turn by turn navigation by Nokia is really awesome as well. You don't even need to activate the PAYGO for the GPS to work! I am using the public dev preview of Windows Phone 8.1! Lots of goodness built-in to this emerging platform.

Nokia not Rogers for Waranty

I'm happy with this phone and bought 2 for me and my son. 2 months after 1 has a defective power button switch and I brought it to Rogers Store for warranty repair. And after more than 2 weeks I was told they cannot fix it because it's prepaid..unbelievable!.

Best deal for 2014

Great phone with great hardware like GPS, Bluetooth, Accelerometer, etc... at a great price. The phone is very good looking, slim, very light, comes with windows phone 8.0, but is scheduled for upgrade by Microsoft, to 8.1 this summer. It has many little annoying bugs. I have been able to work around all of them. Mainly the live tiles didn't update properly on some apps like battery app. Using this app allowed me to see the battery drain chart and have estimated the drain to be 20%/hour when using the phone heavily with all it's hardware enabled (GPS, Wifi, BT,...), 4%/hour with all hardware enabled but asleep. The battery life is good if you are not using the phone for more than 2/hours of heavy use per day, which is not so much when you get the phone, but becomes more than enough, after a week of discovery and playing around with it like a kid on Christmas day. Beyond that, you might want to charge it at the end of the day and don't let it fall bellow 30%. Lithium Ions don't like to be fully discharged but once a month at the most. The best practice is to make sure the battery is always charged to 100% before unplugging it from the charger. Leaving it on the charger is not a problem and will not harm the batteries. There is no front facing camera. So if you can live without video chatting, you're good to go. I first asked myself, why would they not include such a cheap hardware and risk alienating people using video chat apps? then I realized, I have only used video chatting a couple of times when it was something new and exciting. Then got board and haven't used it again. If you need video chatting, keep looking. I use Skype for long distance phone calls and that's it. The virtual keyboard is a bit small for my meaty fingers tips, but that's my problem not the phone's. I found the iPhone keyboard small too. Overall, Best phone for the best price on the market today. Even phones costing 3-5 times as this one, don't have it locked down like this little gem. Very impressed with Nokia and it's parent company; Microsoft. Nice job. Can't wait to see what the 8.1 upgrade will bring to the table this summer. Highly recommend this phone to people who can live with it's very limited flaws mentioned above.

Call blocking does not work

You need call blocking. Because Rogers is going to call you 2 or 3 times a day. It's an interesting business model, sell you a pay as you go phone/sevice then call you 2 or 3 times a day and use up your minutes. I've not found out how to get call blocking to work on this phone and I've tried. Otherwise this is great phone, I will keep it but I wont be buying more time from Rogers. 4 star for the phone.

Product vs Price

An excellent phone for the price. Loaded with features compared to phones four times the price. All phones use more power when connected to data. Use your usb connection when you can and you'll be fine and remember to turn off your wifi when your not using it..

Great basic smartphone

This phone is highly intuitive and a great basic smartphone for the money. I found it very easy to setup voice mail, my desktop page, ringtones, etc. The GPS is really great as I do not have a data plan and find it handy to have. The only complaint I have is the battery life is not really great, but for my basic user requirements, it fits the bill perfectly!

It's ok

Phone does it job ok, it's basic smartphone with access to wifi, data apps etc. It's kinda has a cheap feeling and touch screen gets dirty with fingerprints easily. I find the battery drains fast when using data. But it fits my needs ok as I just need phone with little use of data and at a reasonable price.

Great Phone for the Price Paid

Bought this cell on sale around Christmas when it was [price]. I absolutely love it. It's lightweight and feels very comfortable in your hands. Absolutely a snap to figure out how to use the various features and I love the way contacts are set up. I only use a cell for emergencies so if that's your need you couldn't ask for a better and easier-to-use phone. I went with the Rogers Pay-as-you-Go $85/year plan so my costs have just dropped to zip compared to the $60/mth. I was paying on a 3-yr. plan and with a Rogers-provided "smartphone".. If you're looking for an inexpensive and reliable cell, this is the one to choose.

Good phone for off-line GPS

I bought and unlocked it, then activated it through Koodo support for replacing my old Samsung phone. It's really great. The feature I love most is the off-line GPS. You can use this phone as a normal GPS even without the data plan (not like Andriod Phone). I also like the Where is my phone apps. You can use this feature to find and lock your phone easily.

Good Value

I got it on sale. It's better than I expected. The cover does feel like cheap material but it's doable. Once you have experience using a smartphone, Window phone is not a problem.

Surprisingly Good Considering Its Windows

I grabbed this phone with Koodo back in September to replace my stolen HTC Sensation. Took me a bit to get used to Windows8 but once I caught on I was quite satisfied. Being its made by Nokia I knew the hardware would be quality but I was very leery of the Win8 OS since M$ has a horrible track record and usualy there OS have more bugs than the rain forest. The music player is top notch. This was the first phone/MP3 player Ive seen that beats a Philips Aria in quality. And the speaker is actually quite loud and the music can be heard clearly across the kitchen with the range and fryer fans running. The only downside Ive found as of yet is the lack of a camera flash or flashlight. But in the bigger scheme its a very minor issue. A worthy buy and actually is better than the 620 (better battery etc as seen in many pro reviews and tests)

Good Phone for the Money

I bought one 2 days ago and tried it, and bought another one the next day for my son. The overall performance is good. I got this on sale and gets a year plan unlimited text for my son, and unlimited evening and weekend for me. Not bad even if we change my phones each year.

Picked up this phone on sale - great price, packed with surprising quantity of features. Easy set-up. Very happy with it so far. Contrary to other reports on this site, this phone DOES have a radio feature. See "Music and Videos" app and click "Radio".

Rogers Nokia Lumia 520

This is my emergency phone. I am still learning how to use its many features, like the camera and how to add phone numbers. Not being very tech minded, I find this phone relatively easy to use, once I got used to the new screen and the scroll feature.

Great cell phone for Prepaid!

This is a simple to understand phone and it has way more than what we need it for. We get a better signal at our home than with our previous cell. Since we only use it for trips and emergencies, because we live in the country with poor signals, it was a great price and is exactly what we needed. I would recommend this phone for the basic needs and the price is right! It still has all the "extras" if you need them too..

Phabulous Phone!

This is a great phone for an amazingly good price. Virtually impossible to find such a fantastic phone for Pay As You Go customers without having to pay $600 -$700 for it. Very easy to set up email, etc., and contrary to what you might have heard, there are LOTS of apps available for Windows phones, including Skype. The camera takes surprisingly good pics and video, and personally I do not care about not having a front facing camera. I also find the battery life to be pretty good. Excellent phone all around. I was lucky enough to get one on sale over the Labour Day weekend at Future Shop so am especially pleased with this purchase.

Great phone

All the apps I want are there, and it works very smoothly. Plus I can now save a good chunk off of my phone bill as I am bringing my own device. Even if you're in the market for an mp3 player, take a look at this phone. It is much cheaper than an iPod, and is expandable to 72 GB of memory

I believe at this price, it is an amazing phone, way better than many android phones with similar price tag, this phone gives very smooth user experience, it does all job facebook, twitter, whatapp, youtube, mail, call quality is also very good, battery is also good enough for a day. Overall very happy with this inexpensive phone, Nokia and windows made something good in budget. I will suggest if someone is looking for a buget smartphone, this one is the best phone.

Fast phone for a low-price.

It is fast, speedy, and gets things done. There aren't enough apps/games on the Windows Store to compete with Apple and the screen picks up fingerprints really easily but you can't hate it for the price.

Worst phone I've ever had

Bad screen. Capacitive buttons vibrate the phone every time you touch them. The windows phone OS is severely limited and the app store is missing a huge number of apps. Get an Android phone instead.
