Not impressed!

I had to return my unit for refund. The picture quality was unacceptable, with the lighter tones in the image all burned out. I spent a half-hour on the phone with someone at the Panasonic help desk, but we couldn't find a solution to the problem. On the other hand, the wi-fi connection worked well and I liked the one-touch access for Netflix.

Incompatible Blu Ray Discs

This player will not play Blu Ray discs which have been made with standard Sony software. The player immediately gives the message that the disc is incompatible. The disc will play in the LG burner with no issues. I am very tired of the ongoing compatibility issues with Blu Ray. Can Panasonic talk to Sony and fix it please. This nonsense has been going on since the very beginning of Blu Ray.

Smart Blu-ray, Good Price

Have owned this player for 2 months and it's perfect. My tv is an older LCD so it's not "smart" but this blu-ray player turns it into a "smart" tv. I love that I can put a flash drive into the usb on the front, and the buttons are well-placed on the top edge of the player. No problems playing regular dvds and blu-rays; haven't tried any other types of discs yet. The Home menu is clear and easy to use, remote has dedicated buttons (including Netflix), and it connects to my home wifi very smoothly, despite the wireless router being at the other end of the house. I would definitely recommend this player.

Excellent Blu-ray player but

Good: Significant increase in the Netflix picture quality, much better than my Nintendo Wii. My Netflix now looks HD itself. WiFi connected easily and it has never dropped. Flash drive loads quickly and plays everything, as does the machine itself. Load time is fast, the unit looks pretty nice too. Bad: The web browser is very slow and browsing websites is not worth the effort but it's there if you need it. My biggest disappointment is with the remote, it is very cheap feeling and has no lights on any of the keys at all, it doesn't even offer glow in the dark. It's a poorly designed remote because the Netflix shortcut button, which is great, is located to close to the stop button which can cause me to hit it by mistake. Overall this is definitely a great player and loads fast, plays media off your flash drive easily. Lots of options to play with via the marketplace. I would have given a higher rating if it weren't for the horrible remote.
