This thing is fun. Takes a short while to get comfortable flying it. Although the drone can handle some wind breeze, try and stick to non windy days. HD Video is fantastic. My only issue is that one day, the drone just dropped to the ground, as if it completely lost power (Battery was still charged). Luckily it was only about 3 feet off the ground at the time. Only happened the once.

Good hardware - not so good software

Buyer be ware. The hardware runs itself and is the toughest I've seen... But you have to rely on other technologies to even use it. The software support does not keep up to the versions of tablets and phones you need to control it. It may work today and update your phone or tablet tomorrow and be functional for months. I have 2 apple devices and both have new OS . The manufatures software wont run and their support uses the line" We are aware of the issue and are working on it" In the mean times people cant use the product. I purchased one and returned it two days later because their software kept crashing.

Great RC

I had it up and running in a matter of a few minutes from unpacking it. Its the easiest RC to fly and takes pretty cool video. I came close to losing it one day, learned my lesson and wont be pushing the limits.

Worth every penny and more...

Ive owned several toy RC over the years including Helicopters, and this is by far the easiest and feature rich device out of all them... battery life is low, but you cant expect much better with todays current battery technology. To put this in-perspective this toy gives you 10-15 mins battery life, the professional quadcopters I've come across that cost between $10,000-$20,000 give 20-30 min battery life... the camera is a giant leap forward from the first gen parrot copter... the last guy said its low quality, i beg to differ its definitely an HD camera (720)... the short range, '600 feet is due to the wifi connection, So all in all factor all of that in this is a great piece of RC fun at a low price compared to the alternatives, aka HIGH VALUE RC TOY...

Beware of Fly-Away

I've purchased one of these a few months back. It was a great toy, and was very fun... however... for no reason mine flew straight up in the air at full speed and just vanished. Just search for "AR Drone Fly Away" and you will see countless videos of these copters disappearing. I spent a few days nocking on neighbor doors in hopes to retrieve my unit and to this day I have never seen it again. Its a known bug that affects version 1 and version 2. Buyer beware!!! if you buy it, keep it INSIDE!

Super Cool!

While the price point on these is a bit high, I got mine on sale and I love it. The controls are very similar to video gaming with two joysticks and the iphone is a good size for hand held control. Haven't tried tablet control yet. The drone responds fairly well to commands although simply due to the fact that it's manipulating 4 propellers, sometimes it moves in an unpredictable way (like when you turn, the increase in prop power can cause it to elevate at the same time). This has only been a problem when I've flown indoors and banged into walls and ceiling. The foam chassis protects it well against basic bumps. The only risk is when you hit something hard and the drone tips over sideways. It has an auto shutdown feature when it senses a crash which is also nice. Flying outside is great as long as there's no wind. Video is a bit low rez, but still very very cool. Forward, back, and strafing are the coolest controls - controlled by the accelerometer in the iphone/pad. Very responsive in these axis. Elevation and rotation are done by thumb pad and are a bit trickier to master because it's hard to decide what to look at - your phone with video feed or the drone in the air. Battery time is pretty short but it's not hard to see why with 4 props and a wifi transmitter/receiver on board. The only improvement I'd like is greater range and longer battery life.
