Unexpectedly awesome!

I was getting tired of my tv's sound so I decided to purchase this sound bar. And oh boy! I was amazed on how it sounds. It was absolutely clear and crisp! You can hear everything! It was perfect and it sounds like you're in a cinema theatre complete with a sensoround feel. I was very impressed and so happy that I bought this! For the price, it was great value for the money! Totally worth it! Thank you, Polk Audio!

Good basic sound bar system

Looked for quite a while, didn't want to spend too much so found this one on sale and I am pleased with it. Easy to hook up, wireless sub is great. Also comes with fibre optic audio cable which is expensive to buy on its own. It comes with RCA jack audio cables as well if your TV doesn't have an optical audio out. So you get everything you need to hook it up.

Great value and easy set up

I just installed one of these yesterday and was amazed how easy it was to set up,and it works great, just used the optical cord, turned it on,DONE! that was it,synced my remote from my TV which took about 30 seconds, there is a tutorial online to show you how from Polk Audio.I am more than happy.

horrible sound - OK subwoofer

I was hoping to get something that would do away with all the wires and provide much better sound than that of my Samsung 40inch LCD. I was severely underwhelmed by the performance of the speakers - They sounded horrible ... almost defective. I had some old 5.1 Logitech speakers for $120 that sounded 10 times better than this soundbar. Lets not forget the so called surround sound... there was no surround sound. The speaker sounded like a sound system with the ball turned all the way down and the treble all the way up - bad!

Although the unit produces great sound, After a little over 2 years, the electronics failed, and it couldn't be controlled remotely any more. Thankfully, I purchased a FutureShop extended warranty - which was for a total of nine years, and for a really low price. This is my replacement unit; at least I still have 6.5 years warranty to protect my investment!!

polk surround bar 3000

Bought this for a bedroom about 3 weeks ago, it sounds great , way better than I thought it would be . The wireless remote woofer is really nice , super easy to set up. I paid $[...] on sale at future shop. I think it is a good buy and am completely happy with it and would recommend this to anyone wanting a great sounding unit .

Great full audio with Polks signature silk sound

I am VERY happy with the sound quality out of this unit. The sub on this unit is very tight actually unlike allot of sloppy sub systems. Polk actually invented the SDA technology that makes this unit seem to fill the room with sound and this is why its the only choice for me. The other companies are just watered down versions of 'sound bars' im my opinion and the sound coming out of them is just not the same. If you are looking for a full bodied, silky smooth audio solution that doesn't need to be blared then this is your solution (for home tv OR just music/computer). You may want to look at one of Polks larger models is you are getting very loud or have a very large room.

Not worth it

If you don't want to waste $[...], don't buy this! Look for something of higher quality. It only took about 3 months for this unit to start acting up on me. It was easy enough to set up, and looked fairly rugged, but after about 3 months of use (and I would only use it approx. 2 hrs / day), the sound bar speaker began to fuzz out and crack like the speakers inside had broken. I'm not sure how this could've happened as I tend to keep the sound down fairly low regularly. The subwoofer worked fine, and added a nice rumble to the experience, but the sound bar itself [broke]. Not only did it start cracking and fuzzing, but it would also turn itself off randomly and I would have to hit the power button on the remote to turn it back on. This would happen in the middle of movies and tv shows. [terrible product], don't buy.

Polk Audio 3000 Surroundbar

It seems to be a well manufactured unit, it was easy to set up but would have been even easier had the manufacturer included a useful length of optical cable rather than the 6" peice that they did. The bar itself sounds great, the jury is still out on the subwoofer which is great if playing music that includes bass but is conspiculously absent when listening to TV with dialogue only. Overall I'm not sure that I'd buy again.

Great value & quality

This sound bar is great value and quality. The other sound bars you see for a similar price do not compare. For the price it's a great deal. Very easy setup with a wireless sub and optical as well as two 1/8'' connections. Only downside is you have no visible volume.

Great System

Great and powerful sound

Pros: Quality sound at medium and high volumes Great for Movies or Music Wireless sub at 30ft away with no issues 3 inputs including Fiber Optic connections Separate volume control on remote for sub Cons: At low volume, the sub may pick up some low end sounds that almost sounds like distortion but it's not (solution, turn down the sub volume slightly) The remote keeps dying shortly after I replace the battery (will address through warranty)

Great Value

Setup is a snap took longer to un box it than the set up. Very impressed with the sound quality a huge improvement over the TV speakers. The sub goes deeper than one would expect for an inexpensive unit and it wireless no messy wires running around the room. The only bad thing I have to say is that the provied is almost uselees. I programmed it into my Logitech remote and it works really well. I think it excels at music. It does not have a decoder which I wasn't told when I purchased it. Overall for little cash this is an amazing sounding bar. Highly reccomended.

Good Bang for your buck!

I was given this surround bar for christmas and it works perfect in my dorm. Lord of the rings sounds great! This is very cheap and really produces a good sound. I dont hear true surround but it does work better than the tv. Its a great system but if your picky try it out before you buy. Pros -Very easy setup -Subwoofer is instant, no delay -Sound its great -Dolby Digital and aux hookups -Easy to use -Mountable -Sub sounds awesome Cons -Remote is sometimes a pain -Only 1 HD input -No visual volume bar. If you want cheap strong sound definitely check this out! -

Not Bad

Bought this yesterday because the sound from TV speakers was just terrible. Mostly bought it because Polk audio is an actual speaker manufacturer. Quite impressed for the coin I put out. Wireless sub is great no more wires. Ditched the included optical cable for a Monster I already had. Sound quality Bass is quite deep but not all that detailed, Mids are good but do not produce much space. Top end is quite lacking. But you can not expect the be all and end all sonically and I am quite satisfied with this unit it has made a huge improvement to my overall viewing pleasure whether watching TV a Movie or listening to music.

I like the 3000. Using it with a Samsung UN46D6000 Led TV. Tv has optical out which can be set to PCM 2-channel. Apple TV working great with the sound bar so no receiver required. Easy setup. Cons: Expensive vs. Sony and no HDMI. I'd like to see a volume bar on the TV....

Great product

I love this unit. While it does not fully compare to a proper surround sound system it does deliver for certain spaces. We bought this for an area that has high kids and dogs traffic. The lack of cords and wires combined with much, much better sound than the TV produces make it a keeper. Pros: compact few cords to hook up and run decent sound for a two speaker system plays MP3 players with a cord in the back of the system (not included) Cons: remote control is weak no visual volume indicator

Not that great

The subwoofer sounds good, the soundbar doesn't sound that great. The audio sounded hollow, it didn't sound right. Even if this soundbar was $100 I wouldn't keep it. We exchanged this one for the Sony Surround Bar which sounds amazing in comparison.

No Decoder!

My dad picked this up for his new Sony LCD, and asked me to hook it up. No matter how I tried, I got no sound. After a little digging on the internet, I discovered that this system needs 2 channel audio input. If you have an HD source (like a Shaw HD cable box) the audio is transmitted as a Dolby 5.1 signal over the HDMI cable. The Polk sound bar does not have a Dolby decoder. Therefor you have to take audio from the RCA output (and not the optical) on the back of your TV in order to make this thing work; this mans with you HD audio source, you only get 2 channel analogue audio to the soundbar. I suppose you could run everything to an A/V receiver and then out to the sound bar... but if you are going to the trouble of an A/V receiver you will probably be installing proper surround sound anyways. Seems a little silly to me. We are returning this, and exchanging it for the Sony version which has a Dolby decoder, and takes multiple HDMI inputs. While the Sony does not feature a wireless sub, I think we can live with that.

IHT 3000

I am a Polk Audio fan. This was my first intro to soundbars and after reading alot online from manufacturers, I tried this one from Polk, Yamaha, and Bose. They all sounded simular (Bose sounded best of the three) and none, to me, made that dramatic surround sound effect. Yamaha had no subwoofer so was really lacking in the low end. Bose had an exccellent rounded sound but had a wired in subwoofer making placement for me more difficult as I was mounting this system on a mantel above a fireplace. This Polk system has a wireless sub which sounds very good. The biggest downside to me was that the Polk 3000 seemed to lack a bit in the upper end compared to Bose. If Yamaha came with a wireless sub, it would have been a top contender. The price ended up selling me on the Polks as the were approx $450 cheaper than the Bose that I tested, plus the wireless sub was a bog bonus. To me, no, these speakers don't reproduce a surround sound effect but with that said, sound so much better than the speakers on your TV and the sub adds that punch. I placed the sub behind me to help in the surround area a bit. How the one reviewer said that they don't sound much better than the TV is beyond me. They sound very good, just not surround effect like everyone advertises. For what you are getting, this is a great value in comparison to the others!!

Polk Audio 3000 Soundbar

I bought one today. It was a cinch to set up. I was, however, disappointed with it as the sound produced was not nearly as good as I had expected. At comparable high volumes, there was a definite "spacial" effect, but the overall sound was not much of an improvement over the sound from the TV set itself. I will have to take it back
