very happy for buying ROKU

for the price it is good one time expense if you need additional care PSP is good choice for this product. it is good device on streaming player YOUTUBE IS available and many USA channels plus tons of Christian channels and Toddlers channels. I bought this to watch from India which is free app you have to download from www. angeltv for ROKU,since then you can watch all of free of is only Tamil and Engilsh but it is great channel ROKU has it God bless Roku.. but only one disappointment is there is no CANADIAN local channel like CBC or CTV which is degrading to 4 stars otherwise I would give 5stars. but still you will be happy for ROKU

works good

I got both Google Chrome, then this (thinking it would offer more mainstream internet tv channels, but it doesn't, at least not in Canada). pros: - works good, for viewing tv internet channels - can plug in headphones in the remote control cons: - you need to enter in your credit card info, to log in for the 1st time (Google Chrome doesn't require this) - can't use your smartphone as a remote control (you can with Google Chrome) - can't view internet browser on the TV via your computer browser (like Google Chrome offers) - no search function for looking for internet channels - need to use a power supply plug for an electrical outlet, & there's no on/off switch, so if you don't want it on when not using it, you have to unplug it (Google Chome has the option to plug into a USB port on your tv)

Roku 2 Opinion

Easy to hook up and install. Nice to be able to stream netflicks in an organized manner from your big screan-Facebook capability was disappointing as could only get news stream and not able to imput as usual. Only 2 additional movie channels, Woulod seriously compare the apple product to this one for more movie channels.

Time to end my Bell TV service

A very good device. Simple to setup and easy to use. Just some minor issues. The Canadian version is a little lacking in channels and options and I would have preferred the ability to arrange subscribed channels by theme. [...] Overall though its well worth the price.

Waiting for Netflix Profile Support

I purchased the Roku 2 primarily to stream Netflix to an older (non-HDMI) TV. It works, but does not support Netflix profiles, which we use on our AppleTV and other netflix clients. The update is expected to be released in "early 2014" and should bring the improved interface seen on the Roku 3. That would actually make the Roku 2 useful for the purpose for which it was purchased.

Can't compare with a Boxee. I bought this just before Christmas and it's going back. Can't even play youtube! No web browser, can't get most US Channels, no freely available Canadian content. Can't get most of the private channels because we are outside the US. The channels you do get are terrible featuring old black and white movies and tv shows from 1975. Can't even get CBC!!! Sure you get netflix with this and people who don't know any better will think that's great. I can use my wii for that, so you might as well buy that and have a box with another purpose, other than this junk that has no power button. Don't buy this, get a boxee or wii instead.

The worst

I was given this slick new media box for Christmas but unfortunately i can even turn it on! Why you ask because it FORCES you to input all of your personal info and valid credit card info before you can even see the home screen. Roku goes as far as to bill your credit card $1 then refunds it to confirm your information is valid. If you thought you could use your already payed for netflix account or watch some free TV you are incorrect. Please try a brand that is less interested in data mining. I will be returning this and getting an android TV box. Also many features are not available because we are not is the US.

Great product

I just purchased this and setup was a breeze. I basically just bought it for netflix but it has a whole range of other channels that are quite interested. Would definitely recommend to others. It does not let you surf the web however, but I wouldn't use my TV for that anyways.

Great Device

So far, I've been very pleased with it as a netflix player. Benefit is that it has both composite and hdmi connections.
