Keeps damaging my sd card

I have gone through 3 cards already. I noticed that this happens most often when we use the tablet while it is being charged. I am thinking that the component that holds the Sd card is not up to par with the rest of the parts within the tablet. Other than that, I am like this table very much - it is the right size and I am able to do a lot of stuff with it. And I am not even using it to its full potential!.

Good Value for the money

Excellent tab to bring in to meetings and do light work. S pen takes some adjustment but works very well. I enjoy this device. There are certainly better devices... but not for this price. Don't expect it to flawlessly work on microsoft programs like word (polar is office is pretty terrible for formatting) . AIl in all, great value for money.

Forget it

Has insufficient internal storage and a hobbled SD card slot.

Outdated

The Note 8 itself isn't so bad, however Samsung Canada is non-commital about when or if firmware updates the rest of the world seems to get will occur; citing confusion as their concern... It's interesting they are not so concerned about the false expectations their global marketing creates prior to purchase, about perks and support for which Canadians are excluded. The device is short on internal storage as Android + Samsung bloat use half. Though it has an SD card expansion slot, because of OS limitations, it is impossible to move an app to the SD card. Most apps also lacking the option of storing files on the SD card.

just the right size for a tablet

I've had this tablet for a few months and have no regrets purchasing it. I find it's the perfect size for to travel with, use every day and use as an e-reader. I haven't taken advantage of the s-pen like I should have though.

great tablet

The Samsung note 8 is versatile and powerful enough for my needs. I especially like the s pen feature and it can decipher most of my hen scratch writing with ease. I purchased it on sale and feel that I got good value for my money.

Like the s pen

it's an amazing product. S pen is useful for taking notes, but Note 10.1 should be a better choice if we need to take notes during the meeting or lecture

So far so good....

Had an old Nexus 7. Found it a little small, and it got so very slow over time - unusable, in fact. Decided on a Note 8.0 because of the slightly larger screen, the multi-window function and the S-pen. Screen - quite nice. Don't miss the higher pixel count on the Nexus compared to having a larger viewing area. Also, better colour on the Note 8.0. Multi-window - still playing with it, but its nice to take notes with while either studying a text or watching a video lecture. Seems to be more than a gimmick. And the S-pen - finding it very useful for writing (eg. this review) and surfing the web. If I were an artist, I imagine I'd be thrilled at the artistic potential. Also enjoy the increased storage capacity from the micro SD slot - very nice to throw video's on. Overall, I fnd it a much better tablet for work / study than a Nexus 7. 4 stay because I haven't used it long enough to see if it'll stay up to speed or slow down like the last tablet.

I had a Motorola Xoom prior to this one. Nothing comparable. I specifically loved the pen. I believe it's the best tablet in market at the moment.

Nice tablet.

I really like my SGN8. The screen is just the right size - any larger and it would be too big, any smaller, too small. Very smooth operation. Would have liked to be able to adjust size of icons, but no big deal. I'm finding transferring files to and from the device awkward, but maybe that's just my not being used to the settings and menus. So far I have few complaints.

very useful tablet

I tried the new note 10. It's a great tablet with a really good screen but for writing it's just way too heavy, My arm was sore after 20 minutes. the note 8 is the perfect size and very useful. the pen is fantastic and the battery life isn't bad at all. the only bad thing I can say is that the screen is just average compared to the newer tablets out noW. If You get the note 8 you will enjoy it.

Without wi-fi what's the point???

From the specs this looked like a great product and also liked the feel and look when it was shown in the store. Unfortunately it could not maintain my home wi-fi for longer than 15 seconds - endless search-connect-search-connect... while other devices were perfectly connected. I'm going to stick with my Playbook after all.

Incredible Tablet

I'm am completely in love with this tablet. Everything about it. Firstly, I love the size, the shape, and the lightness. I really prefer the Samsung aesthetics other other tablets. Secondly, this tablet is super fast. I never have any lagging issues. I can use multi-windows and easily watch videos! Then again, I've had the tablet for only a month so we'll see how long the speediness lasts. Thirdly, I really enjoy using the S-pen. It's much better than other styluses that you would get for an IPad or other tablet. Much better. It's really easy to control the pen since it feels very natural. As well, the pen as other functions such as screen clipping that are very handy. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my Samsung tablet. It is really beneficial in my daily life as a student. It works well as a planner, organizer, and of course an overall entertainment device!

Unimpressed

Pros. Light Weight Bright Screen S-pen Quick boot up Perfect size (for me) Cons. S-pen needs calibration quite often Not a coherent operating system between Samsung and Android influences. Clumsy multitasking operation (compared to Playbook or BB10) Lags often Camera can't focus as well as a smart phone in low light and is grainy (compared to Iphone or Lumia 920 phone). Weak battery (compared to iPad) Automatic updating apps kill battery Weak antenna reception for WiFi (BB10 Phones much better)

Top of the line

This is by far the best tablet i have ever come across, i was a bit skeptical at first. After a few days of use, i have got hooked on to this. The camera is good, but if you are comparing it with the IPAD and iphone then it comes slightly short on that department. This is the perfect tool for people like me who have a very active life. The best feature about this is the S pen, being in University and working at the same time S pen comes to good use. i can easily record my lecture, download PDF and start to edit them save and even mail them to myself. I can multitask on the same screen. The list wont stop.... The battery life is good as well. lasts me an entire day of web browsing, note taking listening to music.

Gorgeous in the store, fails with use

Resolution is too low, think 1st gen iPad. Twice during my week with the device it went into a mode where it couldn't maintain WiFi connection. Just a bit too wide, makes it awkward to handle, thankful I didn't drop it during my eval, felt I would drop it eventually. Plastic backing makes it mandatory to put a case on it...or buy a cover.

I Luv My Tablet

Yes, I Luv my tablet and my husband said he is jealous.... LOL... It goes everywhere I go, and works like a charm, it's fast and light weight, the screen is amazing. I have had it for a few months and it's my favorite. I am a web designer, I can log into my multiple computers remotely with high speeds, it's also rooted and has fast wired usb internet. The drawing pen is just like my expensive Bamboo drawing tablet. I can read for hours if I want without having sore hands or wrists from holding it. It's easy to view outside in the sun, no glare, angled viewing is amazing. It has infrared to control my TV, with a complete channel listing (although I don't watch TV), I can turn the volume down when the kids get too loud with their games. I can also plug my usb music keyboard into it, my Yeti usb Mic, and my electric guitar for amp effects. Honestly, I couldn't even fit all the good points in here.. So try it, you'll love it too..

Amazing Tablet

I dont know where to start, the day i went to look at this tablet, i couldnt decide if i should buy this or not, soo i did. when i got home and took the tablet out, it was nice to pick up, i was suprised about the weight. i played with this tablet for a few days now, man!! this is an amazing tablet. i mean everything! the speed on the Note 8 is incredible fast! connecting to other devices like my tv and computer is great. nothing special. ive had a playbook, and a galaxy tab 10.1 (samsungs first tablet) both were disappointing. Note 8 has everything you want. i recommend buying this! now i know the other tablets all do the same thing as the note 8, but when it comes to having a quad x 4 processor, it makes everything flow nicley and smooth.

What a tablet!

I bought this tablet as an open box and have not been disappointed. I researched for months looking for that perfect tablet. I previously owned a BB Playbook and the move to the Note 8 was like going from a Chevette to a Bentley. It's the perfect size for me. 7" was not much larger than my GS3 and 10" is just too big. Its not heavy either. Its fast, browsing is quick, the image is crystal clear, the s-pen is awesome. I am not an artist but in meetings, I rather write notes than type on a touch screen. The writing takes some getting use to to ensure it translates your text correctly. The battery has decent life but turning up the brightness drains the battery faster (same as my GS3). Also. they say Apple iTunes has far more apps than Google Play but I have yet to complain of lack of apps on Play for the Note 8 or even my 7 month old S3. So far, any time I have wondered if such an app exists in Play, I've found it. Note I did find icons and text not very crisp at first but there is a setting under Display to enhance it. Now it is crisp. I think this is a super tablet in my books. Samsung innovation shines through with this tablet. Add the Google environment, which is icing on the cake.

BEST Tablet Ever!

I am completely in love with this Tablet. I had the 7" first and in between I switched to the mini ipad because of the extra 1 inch, but when this one come out, that was no brainer! I switched immediately! I find myself being more of an Android kind of person, can't leave without my Widgets! The S-Pen is amazing and so handy, the Micro SD option is wonderful giving you way more extra storage for your music, photos and movies to go anywhere with you! The Multi-window option is a really neat feature too. Love it, love it, LOVE IT, wouldn't change it for anything! The prize is a bit steep, but if you watch out for the specials you can get a really good deal like I did. Don't think it twice, you will be super-happy with this tablet.

Luxury tablet with mediocre screen and design

I am a Galaxy S3 user, and I am a great fan of Samsung product. So when I got this tablet I was excited about all the possibilities of using it for many note-taking I do for myself and business. But the tablet did not offer a distinct look (looks quite the same as S3, but bigger) for the price point. As you may know, S3 has the same resolution as Note 8.0. That's a huge problem for me: texts does not look good on it; contents I created look very grainy and choppy. My biggest complaint is that this tablet has the same resolution as my 3-year old Sony tablet. When content creation is something that Samsung is aiming for, the screen resolution should support such intention through a high resolution. I think Samsung, with this tablet, was thinking too much about competition with iPad mini creating a comparable or a little better product that it forgot to make this product CREATIVE and UNIQUE from iPad mini. If the pen was the only thing that would distinguish itself from iPad mini, I'd rather get the cheaper iPad mini, which holds value better than the plastic Note 8.0. In creativity, the company should take design risks if it wants to make a table that claims its value of creative content about Note 8.0. I would rather wait and watch for the next Note 8.0 because it is not worth the dollar amount on this tablet.

Perfect Size for Business and Planning

Great Tablet for Work and a Grad student who's always on the go. The Calendar and S Planner work great and Android OS Syncs it all up fast. The key for me is the size. Larger than the 7inch Nexus so its easier to show people items and pics/videos but at the same time small enough to still carry easily in one hand. The S Pen also keeps it professional feeling and helps jot down notes on the go. My only knock so far is that the Samsung Software and Android Software together can make for some redundant apps such as email, but you can shed that stuff once you get going. Pricier than the Ipad Mini and Google Nexus, but worth it in the long run.

Awesome tablet

I am very pleased with the galaxy note 8.0! Its easy to navigate through and very user friendly. The screen clarity is out-standing! I had the galaxy tab2 10.1 at first and when i saw the note 8.0, i knew that this was a far better choice for me. Its not huge but its amazing how an inch bigger can make such a difference from the 7 inch tablets. The stylus is another nice option, it is again easy to use and i actually prefer using it instead of touching the screen. Highly recommend!!!

AMAZING AND AMAZED

This Galaxy note 8 is an absolute genius. I had a Ipad 3Generation and it was okay. Not the best. The screen is bigger on the Ipad and its ridiculous how big the thing is. The Galaxy on the other hand is small and fast. No I mean fast. I opened yesterday and I was amazed. The multi window is genius and very helpful. You can run two application at the same time. Technology cant get any better can it? I would advise you to buy this beautiful creature. Because its a life moving tablet.

Fantastic tablet, especially for artists

This tablet is amazing. It's fast, the screen is sharp and beautiful and the S Pen really adds a lot to the tablet-using experience. The 8 inch size is also perfect and you may find that it is even more comfortable using than a typical 10 inch tablet. Note taking and drawing on this tablet is anything but a tack-on. The response is excellent and you will find yourself actually enjoying writing because of how awesome the S-Pen is. And if you are an artist, I truly believe you will fall in love with this tablet, as did I. I am an artist who illustrates and sketches regularly and having this tablet on the go, I can pull out the S Pen and within a second, I am ready to sketch. The responsiveness is really good. This tablet really is a landmark product for artists. Though the price is a bit steep, I personally think that it is worth it. Five stars. Easily.

For work and play

I've been hesitant on getting a media consumption device because they are pretty much one dimensional. The Galaxy Note 8 finally has bridged the gap between professional and play. I use my Note for work meetings and customer visits because it's much easier to lug around than a laptop, and more functional than a pad of paper. When i'm not working I can use it for games and to surf the web while waiting in the airport. All in all this tablet is great!

Excellent Tablet, Great for Artists!

I have been waiting patiently for a great tablet to hit the market, after hearing such great things about "The Samsung Note" this beauty caught my eye. I definitely recommend this to people that already own an Iphone, I have an Iphone so getting an Ipad just for a larger screen didn't make sense. This way you get the best of both worlds. I went with this one and was not at all disappointed. Its super compact and has an immaculate screen, the apps and multitasking run seamlessly. The stylus S-Pen for me was the thing that was missing from the tablet, I love to draw and am an artist and art teacher so naturally I jumped at this. If you have ever used a Wacom tablet, I always found a disconnect from just drawing as you have to look at a monitor while your creating, however with this tablet you can simply draw as if its a sheet of paper, and the s pen is pressurized so you can apply pressure to make stroke darker or lighter. Honestly this tablet has renewed any old apps and the whole internet experience for me and made them even better. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this tablet. worth every penny ! The larger version of the Ipad is simply to large to take around!

Fast, thin, gorgeous screen

I own an ipad gen. 3 as well as the tegra three prime and a smashed nexus 7. This tablet is the only one that allows me to stream hd live tv without stuttering from my xbmc server at home. The wife antenna has fantastic range. 8 inch is the perfect size for a small tablet. The nexus 7 was a little too small by comparison. The browsing experience is as fast as my ultra book. The 800p screen is tack sharp. Gaming performance is excellent. The s-pen is very useful..especially if you own a note phone and can sync notes across devices... For me it's well worth the premium over the ipad mini... especially when I can throw in a 32 gb microseconds Is the Best tablet experience I have had yet.

very good for students

it makes it easy to have fun and study at the same time. the S pen features bring also a unique experience, specially when I'm doing some math but even crazier, this tablet can take a Sim card o_O. i haven't tried it yet but texting with a tablet like that should be fun.
