Better than expected!

I got my Samsung Chromebook a little over a month ago and so far, I am more than satisfied. The pros The basic system is very well thought out, super simple and easy to understand. I love not having to use a system that has a bunch of bells and whistles that can malfunction, but that I never use and do not want to have to learn about. The screen is large enough to see without any stress, and the keyboard is also entirely comfortable to use. It is surprisingly light weight, but does not at all seem flimsy. Compared to my budget 7 year old laptop, it is fast as lightening. It streams the medium quality video I prefer to conserve bandwidth, without any problems, which looks fine to me. I haven't timed it exactly, but one battery charge generally seems to get me through a day of a 1-3 hours of online activity and 2-3 hours of video streaming, without going below 20 percent. There is a few minor inconveniences, but mostly just that this new system takes a bit of getting used to. For my work I need to create, crop and watermark photos, and I used to do this on my laptop with GIMP. Inserting the memory card from my camera into the slot in the side of the CB easily transfers these files, but it involves a couple extra steps than just plugging the camera in to a laptop using the USB cord. GIMP won't download onto a CB but the free, relatively simple Pixlr Express app - website that works in a CB, provides all the editing tools I need. There is YouTube tutorials on how to use this. I do not have a WiFi printer that is compatible with this CB, and on the rare occasions I need to print something, I am having to use a compatible Kingston Data Traveler USB to move the file I need printed, to my old offline laptop, and the old printer that works with it. But, all in all, as someone who always has access to WiFi, this is a much more functional, and better quality product than I expected!

Big Bang for the Buck!

I have had my Samsung chromebook for about a month now and i love it and honestly barely use my windows pc anymore. This thing is super fast and receives updates that are constantly adding new features and improving system performance, etc. I just recently switched to beta channel to try a newer version early and in chrome os 34 they have added google now support and notifications from google now. U can now search by saying "ok google" like on an android smartphone. They have improved the music player as well as made the performance even snappier and page scrolling even smoother, etc. Video performance is actually really good and it can stream flash videos and pretty much all hd video online. Works great with netflix, hulu and others as well as all the chrome extensions like adblock and media hint, etc. Don't be fooled by bad reviews or microsoft commercials as this is a laptop it just runs a very light and secure operating system. Yes it has some limitations if you absolutely need microsoft software but if you already have a windows pc then it shouldn't really matter. If you do most of your stuff within google chrome browser or on the internet in general then you will most likely love the speed and security of a chromebook at an unbeatable price. If you make sure you know what you are getting, then it will not let you down and most likely will exceed your expectations of a laptop.

Exceeds expectations

I did a lot of research before deciding on a Chromebook, and am very happy with the choice I made. 95% of what I do is web-based, so the Chromebook was a logical choice for me. My chief concern was that it would be under powered for things like streaming video from YouTube, but the Chrome OS has clearly been optimized to run on this particular hardware platform. In this respect, it is similar to the Apple way of doing things, where the OS X operating system is designed for specific components. This allows the operating system to run much more efficiently. In any case, everything web-based I have tried to do has worked perfectly, including YouTube HD and streaming video using HTML 5 from other sites. The user interface fairly intuitive, and it didn't take long to catch on to how to do things. Even though there are some different aspects to the keyboard, I found I mastered those pretty quickly. One of the reviews I read on here describe it as a tablet on steroids, and that's exactly what it is. For day to day tasks like e-mail, documents, etc., it is much faster than a tablet because you have the physical keyboard, yet the light weight and long battery life (I'm getting between 6 and 8 hours depending on what I'm doing) makes it as portable and easy to use as a tablet. The only complaints I have about it are that the launcher (task bar) can only be located on the bottom, left hand, or right hand side of the screens, but not the top. This is a minor point, but seems like an odd omission. The Apps area does not allow you to sort your applications into any sort of folders or categories, so it can take longer than it should sometimes to locate an app you have installed. Also, the web cam resolution doesn't appear to be all that good. But, given the other advantages of this device, these are relatively minor points. For me, the Chromebook has exceeded the expectations I had for it. You need to do your own research and be sure that this device suits your needs and computing style. If most of what you do is web-based, if you value portability, and you hate trying to type on a tablet, then the Chromebook may be what you are looking for.

Just a garbage and nothing

I bought this Chrome book on Saturday and on Sunday the screen suddenly became black like some liquid came out. Be careful guys and think 1000 times before buying the chrome book .
