Seagate External Hard Drive

My first external hard drive from Seagate crashed after 6 months. I contacted Seagate and they replaced it under warranty but I did lose all my data. I came home the other day and the replacement was making a high pitch squeeling noise. I unplugged it and now it too is dead. Not impressed.

Not compatible with Windows 7 backup utility

I ordered this drive to use with the backup utility included with WIndows 7 Pro 64-bit. The disk drive, however, has 4kB sectors, and according to Microsoft policy (search for "Microsoft support policy for 4K sector hard drives in Windows" to see it) such drives are not supported by Windows 7. Although the drive didn'twork with WIndows 7 backup (produced I/O errors), I tried it with Acronis True Image, and that worked fine. So the drive does seem to be compatible with Windows 7, but not Windows 7 backup.

Great External Drive

Got this at a really great price and it works great. I like that it's not upright compared to other desktop drives in case it gets knocked over. Using it as a backup drive and did not care for Seagates back up software. Used Acronis instead and with the USB3.0 it backs up pretty fast.

Works with windows 8.1

I got this hard drive to store HD videos. It is my third external hard drive from Seagate and I am very happy with it. It works silently fast and seamlessly over USB 3.0. I have an older version of this drive that doesn't work well with the new windows: that older version kept dismounting and re-mounting itself when used with a computer operating under windows 8.1. But this new unit seems completely compatible with the new OS from Microsoft so no complaint. I'm confident it will keep working for years like my two other drives from Seagate.

Bell expressvu...9241..pvr

This hard drive works very well for those looking to expand your pvr...archive over 600 hrs in full HD. just plug it in connect to rear usb go to menu and follow the guide to multimedia, the pvr will format the hard drive and that's it..simple.

Reliable and cost-effective

Seagate never disappoints. I purchased a 1-TB drive three years ago and came back for more due to great performance out of the first drive. No lost data, great transfer times for the price.
