Just awful

These babies died in a month. The earpieces never really fit properly. The sound was, well, 'okay'.

Excellent

Great sound!! Fit in ear very well if you use the correct size (comes with 3 different size buds). Basses are rich and warm, great mids, not tinny on the treble. Best headphones out there for the price. Uneven cords make it easy to sting one around your neck and keep cords out of the way; cords are quality material, as are all componants of the headphones. Had mine for almost 2 years, used daily, still in perfect condition!

Great for the price

I'm very satisfied with my pair of MM55i's. For those that are having problems with fit, I wonder if they tried using the largest size buds instead of the standard ones. I switched out to the largest ones and they fit very well, just like earplugs. I can barely hear anything outside of my music with these on. I'm used to other run of the mill average in-ear's such as Skullcandy 50/50's. I had a few pair of those before I got these, and the Skullcandys would tend to break after awhile. The bass on the Skullcandys was stronger, but the overall sound quality and clarity is much much higher on the Sennheisers. I would buy another set of these in a heartbeat.

Not Bad

I got them as gift from office and I've been using them from 2 months now. I think I'm quite satisfied: Pros: 1. Quite durable - I have used more than 20 different earphones in past 10 years and most of them don't last in scenarios I've used them - worst being: forgetting them in a washing machine! 2. Price - Although I didn't purchase them, I went to the websites to find the price and you can get them in quite reasonable amount. Cons: 1. Sound Quality - It's not bad, but given they are from Sennheiser, I was expecting more. I found my Apple earpods to be better (and cheaper too) than these. 2. The extra functionality like moving through a song or cancelling a call doesn't work via earphones (I use Android Ice cream sandwich).

Meh! Only so-so

I'm actually disappointed given that these are Sennheiser. The sound is only average and I find they don't hold in my ears all that well while running.

Solid headphones

Great product. They're headphones, they sound great and fit nicely. I had Shure e2c's before these, and I think that they compare nicely. Personally I like the uneven cord lengths because it means you can string it around behind your neck. Got this on a really nice sale and they were definitely worth the money.

Bad quality and design

I bought these earbuds because they were made by Sennheiser and they were supposed to have good bass response... On a short walk I noticed that if I held them firmly in my ear canals with my fingers they had good sound but the second I released my fingers the promised bass response disappeared and the sound became very tinny. They also had a tenancy to pop out of the ear canal. The fact that the right wire is longer than the left one makes them awkward to use. Your mileage may vary.

Pass on these.

These do not come close to my Shure SE215s. I honestly prefer the new headphones that were packaged with my iPhone 5 to these thin sounding, low detail headphones. The wire is very thin and the right side is designed to be about 12in longer than the left in order to go around the back of your head while the overall cord length is short. So.... they don't sound great, they seem cheaply made and they are awkward to wear.

Each person has different taste...

I tried several different headphones before selecting this, some has too much bass some has v high midrange. The bottom line is "If you enjoy perfectly balanced sound - IT IS FOR YOU."

Great earphones

I read some of the negative reviews, so was concerned about these. But as I already own 4 other pairs of Sennheiser phones of various models (and all are great), I decided to purchase these. An excellent purchase and highly recommended. The cord could be a little longer, but no problem. Great sound and work well with my iphone.

Cord is too short!

I bought these to replace my CX300-II(amazing!!) because these are similar in design but come with a microphone. The sound quality is good, as is the design which is meant to be worn behind your neck. However, the cord length is just too short, making them just terrible to use with a smartphone. VERY inconvenient. Do yourself a favor and find another pair.

Not Normal Sennheiser Quality

The offset earpiece lengths are goofy. The sound is thin. The controls are fumbly. I am a fan of Sennheiser and own many products but this one is cheap for a reason.

Great sound, short overly short cable

If you are in the HEAVY bass demograph you may want to look elsewhere. If you like great balanced sound get these but definitely get them on sale. This is not a knock at the MM 55i but at the regular price you can get some great over-ear cans. The drivers are compact enough that if you lie on your side or rest the side of your head against your airplane seat headrest while wearing them they do not get pushed into your brain. Once again the compact driver is magic for the "size to quality sound depth" ratio. 4.5 star: for the nicely balanced sound 3 star: for real world use

Sennheiser MM 55i headphones

The quality of sound is very good in this headphones, the cable from the jack to the headphones is very short and isn't long enough to reach from an iPod holder to your ear with any slack, so if you plan to buy these and use them at the gym buy a different brand. Also, the cable is an odd ball length as the left earbud length is about 4" long and the right earbud length is about 10" long. Overall a very poor design if you are not sitting still and want to use them at the gym, etc.

Terrible design

Like most I have owned many pairs of buds, these buds are the worst designed with a tendency to fall out at the smallest movement. The stem is far to short, they are difficult to put in because the cable stops a full insertion to the ear. The lope-sided design puts all the bud weight on one ear and adds to the ridiculous design. Controls are tough to use even though they are bulky, the buttons are not positive in their movement. Don't even consider using these buds while doing any sporting activities, you'll spend more time trying to put them back in! Sound is ok, but not much different than low cost varieties. I bought these buds because of the deep discount price.....was a mistake, they were cheap because of their poor design.

goods and bads?

Being a enthusiast audiophile i plugged the earphones into a DAC to burn in for 48 hours and then test the sound quality. treble was decently crisp with a stronger bass notes. One thing I did not like about this pair of earphones, is that the wire they use is really thin, and sometimes may tangle, it would be nice if the company would make a 2nd generation of the earphones but give it as thicker, or tape wiring instead

Excellent Sound

I find these buds produce a sound many times better than the stock apple ear buds, but I dont't think they're worth the way overpriced MSRP. I wish the sound controls worked for me, but I have an Ipod classic, so I guess one can't have everything lol. But the sound these buds produce make up for that imho.

Good Value at Sale Price

I picked up these in-ear phones with controls that work for iphones or ipods during the boxing week sale. They are my second pair of "premium" in-ear phones as I also own a pair of Klipsch s5i's. Both phones have the same Apple product control functions with a microphone so they can be used for phone calls as well as mp3 listening. I would probably give the Klipsch a slight edge in the area of sound insulation for listening in noisy environments and for overall sound quality, They seem to be able to reproduce a little bit more resolution at the bottom and top end of the frequency scale. I also find the K's a little more comfortable and less prone to falling out due to their design, which has slight bend that allows the soft tips to go deeper in the ear. However, the Sennheisers have a very good balanced sound and seem to be getting better at resolution, particularly in the bottom end, as I put more hours of listening on them. I think they may just take a little bit more break-in time, not unusual for a high quality audio device. Although they are also fairly comfortable (once you find the right sized tips among the several sizes that come with the headphones), their conventional design makes them a little more difficult to get them lodged firmly in the ear canal and thus they are less capable of good noise isolation. But ultimately they are very good at reproducing the original sounds captured in the recording studio and have no noticeable coloration or errors of being either bass heavy or bass shy. Good value for money, they also come with a soft carrying pouch.

Good Buds

Clear and accurate sound reproduction. Not sure who would pay the advertised msrp but for the sale price, they are very good value. They are quite comfortable to wear and stay in your ears. I have an old Ipod classic and the controls do not work with it but not a big deal.

Great all around use headphones

I've tried a lot of ear bud style headphones over the years and had become used to a lower quality sound so I was pleasantly surprised at the amazing sound quality out of the Sennheiser MM 55i. Great clarity, decent bass and an overall great sound from a very compact design. After taking a risk on them at the lower boxing day price I would gladly pay the regular price the next time around knowing how much of an improvement they are over most slightly lower priced units. Well worth the buy!

Sennheiser MM 55i

The Sennheiser MM 55i are good head phones. They aren't spectacular, but they definitely aren't bad either. I don't know what other people are complainging about. I think part of the reason why some people complain about bad quality music is because their music is bad qualty (128kbps) or because they havent set up their EQ. They were better than the last klipsh S3 head phones I had and definitely better than all the skull candy ones i've had (I had the FMJ and the smokin' buds).

Excellent sound quality

First I purchased Monster I-Sport earbuds during Christmas sale but then decided to try these (on sale as well). Eventually, Monsters went back to the store even though the fit was a little better. The sound is great - deep bass and very balanced. No croaking even at maximum volume. Unfortunately, volume and call control features are useless for my Android. In terms of the sound quality - excellent job Sennheiser!

REview

Pros:very detailed and balanced sound;good bass extension without being boomy when properly fit with correctly sized ear tips;light and stay in canals well;2 year warranty Cons:asymmetric cable loop is long and makes noise when rubbing against things;wind noise around outer housing in light winds;lightweight construction limits effective mechanical external sound isolation-more street noise gets through

Very good for boxing day price

These are great headphones people who say the treble is too sharp and the bass is muddy is because they are listening to them too loud. They are much louder then Iphone headphones so when you put the volume too much past the half volume point it will kill the sound where as iphone headphones are much quieter at that point.

Good Call Quality, Okay Sound

Lightweight earphones of good build provide good call quality and overall okay sound. Most notably, base is a little bit muddled. Remote/mic is very close to left side of the face, and asymmetrical style may not please everyone.

Not very good earbuds at all

These earbuds were very disappointing. I was expecting clarity and fresh sounds from my music, but was met with high treble and low bass that could not even match the sounds produced by my iphone 5 earbuds. Glad that the store took it back and even more glad that I didn't even have to pay full price for these things... I'd highly recommend people pass on these.

Sound quality is absolutely terrible. They feel cheap as well. I currently use 2 headphones: Audio technica ATH-M50 and my sony in ear headphones which came with my 5 year old sony mp3 player and the ear buds from sony have MUCH clearer more accurate sound. for the price, these are NOT worth it, even at boxing day sale prices it's a pass. these are going back!

5 STARS!

These are the best ear buds I've ever used. So comfortable you could wear them all day. As mentioned earlier you can lay down, head sideways on a pillow, and not be uncomfortable! The sound quality is unmatched by anything I've heard. Personally, i think they sound clearer and more crisp than over ear headphones. Comfort: 10/10 Treble: 8/10 Mids: 10/10 Bass: 9/10 Mic: Yet to be tested The integrated controls are a nice feature, and the leather drawstring bag is also a nice touch! Overall: 9.25/10, well worth the money, especially if you can pick them up on sale!

Clear Excellent sound

Worth the investment. The sound quality equals the Bose ear buds with an incredable low and high range. The ear fit is comfortable and cancels alot of outside noise. The one thing that worries me is the cords to the buds themselves. They are small and skinny. As I use the ear phones while I workout, I hope they will take the occasional tug with this activity. Time will tell

Fantastic

I'm very picky about my sound and got these just because I can't bring my full size high end headphones when I'm travelling. I had tried a couple of other brands in the range over the years so wasn't expecting anything much better. I was blown away by them! They sound 90% like full size headphones. The detail is great without any harshness and the bass sounds like bass should - solid and present - not overblown and muddy like so many other manufacturers' units. They are expensive but worth every penny in my opinion.

Good with a few issues

Sound is very important to me. These have accurate sound but a bit too airy. Best way to describe it is try listening to your headphones and yawn or chew. You know the sound is there but it's hard to pinpoint it... Movies sound better than music. The mic is really good. Now for the build. The Y part of the cord IS the mic and controls (unlike the picture). It seems like a weak spot. It's also a bulky mic and controls so it weighs the whole thing down and catches on clothes. So the buds kept slipping out until I swapped the buds from an old pair I had. If you plan to be active they will fall out and the chord transmits the rubbing on clothes.[...]

they are not worth it!! i brought them back a mere 5 minutes after purchasing them. they were that bad. they don't deliver anything even remotely close to the amount of bass that they advertise, and my biggest beef with them is that they kept popping out of my ears.[...] I for the life of me, recommend them even at this price.

Best in ear headphones [in the price range]

I've had these for a few months now and can say that these are the best headphones for the price. I've compared them to all other Sennheiser CX models as well as all other klipsch headphones and these definately come out on top. reasons for that: 1) Actually reduces surrounding noise. 2) Very comfy and never fall out since the shape of the silicone creates a "vacuum". 3) Great for biking and since they don't stick out much you won't hear the wind hitting it. 4) Built in microphone and remote make it extremely useful on the go. The only thing I dislike about them is that the remote is connected to both headphone cords rather than just one and because of this one of the cords is much longer than the other meaning it is a bit annoying.

Great in-ear head phone [if on sale]

Great head phone. I have Monster Jamz and compare both. Both almost identical sound quality. Similar base. Monster Jamz is a bit louder at same volume level. MM 55i is much lighter than Monster so less chance of fall out if you are running or walking. Left wire is shorter and control/Mic is closer to your face than Jamz. One other note. It is identical to Creative Labs in-ear headphones.[...]

well worth the $$$ on sale

These are great sounding headphones, and I am very happy with their performance. A snug fit could be a little better, and the only thing that really concerns me is that they seem a little delicate and the jack could have a 90 degree elbow with a little more attention given to the strength of where the wire meets the 3.5mm jack. When we look at todays headphones there are some amazing designs and so many degrees of quality, its very hard to know what product justifies the cost. After going thru most brands [in the price range] It puzzels me that durability and exercise resistant product are almost non existant. Also I'm at a loss to understand what makes any in ear headphone worth [the very expensive headphones]. While there are certainly some that by far out perform others, I cannot wrap my head around their cost. Having said all that, for [the price] they are MUCH more comfortable than the earpods apple supplies with their iphones.

mm 55i

Bought these during the boxing day sale. Actually, I bought 2 sets. These things are amazing. I've owned a lot of headphones ranging from very low end dollar store headphones to premieum JBL headphones. The mm 55i from Sennhieser is simply amazing. The sound is so crisp and clear. The bass has some very nice lows which I didn't think was possible in small in ear headphones. The only complaint is that I don't think I'd go buy a set that was not on sale. Highly recommended!
