Very good so far

We have had this Sony product for about a month and so far it has worked perfect and the sound is a lot better than the old one even with the same speakers.

Great C.D. Player

I had a Sony 5-Disc CD Player for 20 plus years that was started to skip the C.D.'s was so happy to find out Sony still made them. I purchased a new one and it's great. This one plays MP's and you can hook up your Ipod that I would but in any case happy that I have it. I highly recommend this player like I said I had the other one for 20 plus years without a problem.

I replaced my existing Sony 5-CD player with this one I was so glad to find out that that Sony still made them. My previous Sony 5-Disc CD player lasted me 25 years. I love Sony love the fact that it plays MP3 files and this one will actually burn as well. My aunt gave me an old 50's/60's CD with 150 songs on it but up till now was not able to play it. I have no complaints whatsoever. You can also hook up your Ipod to it. I purchased it for back yard summer parties nothing bad to say about it only good things.

Sony 5 Disc CD Changer

My old sony CD Changer has stopped changing the discs. It was a welcome surprise to see you had one similar. I am happy with the replacement as I still have many CD's. I also have an Ipod Nano and play music with that but still prefer choosing CD's. I do wish it would display what is playing but possibly I need to read further for that feature. Thank you for your prompt delivery and I am happy with this purchase.

Sony 5-Disc CD Player

The CD player performs exactly to our needs. We load 5 discs and the player plays all of them and then stops automatically for us to change the CD's if we wish. Continuous music is what we were looking for and that's what we received with this player.

Exactly as expected!

Not easy to find a CD player nowadays, there are still a few more expensive ones on the market, but this 5 disc Sony fits exactly what we needed. Only thing I would like to see is a more visible button on the actual unit to have "All Disc Shuffle". I had to review the owners manual, and was able to find this feature on the remote.

No headphones ?

When you buy a good audio product, you should be allowed to enjoy it thru headphones. I can't believe that Sony " forgot " to provide that very basic feature.. Disappointing. I have the older model CDP-C515 and headphone jack is available. I will try to find another decent brand with this feature.

Liking the Sony 5-Disc player

It's doing what I bought it for - playing CDs effectively. I've also started using it to play music files form the USB, and was surprised how easy it was to copy items from my iTunes library to stick, and have the Sony recognize the accompanying title data etc. In particular, with a quick glance at the manual, I find the unit easy to use and feels quite solid.

So far, it's doing what I wanted.

I haven't tried using all the features yet, but so far it's doing what I wanted - playing CDs effectively.

Service from Future Shop was great - at least a 4+. However, the product was a failure, not what I expected from Sony. Installing disks left an impression of dealing with a toy. Remote was useless. I will be returning this product and staying away from Sony products.

Poor usability and lot of annoyances

I expected more from such famous brand, as Sony. Pros: Plays from USB. Quite a few CD-players are capable of doing that, and none other is available on Canadian market. Reads partitioned USB drives. This is not most wanted feature, but is handy (I use my 16 GB drive for video and audio content, and partitioning allows me not to mix content and thus index/read it faster) Reads CD-RWs perfectly. This is very important to me, as I have many CD-RW discs in CD Audio format. Cons: Missing features No UTF in MP3 tags support. It's hard to believe that Japanese company release a product to market with no UTF support. I'm wondering whether it displays French characters with diacritics?.. No CD-text support. Would be nice to have... No headphones output. Not a deal breaker, but it's handy to plug-in headphone directly to the CD unit, rather to amp, for better quality. No coaxial digital output. Not a big deal, but in mine amp Optical connector is in use by TV output signal. For somebody it may be useful to have a coax output. Defects, faults MP3 playing stops. I experience here the same, as someone else mentioned already somewhere on Internet: playback stops unpredictably. It may stop on the same song one day, but may play it flawlessly on another. You have to press "Rewind" and start again for playback to continue. Very annoying USB cold start is slow (30 sec). I have just ~200 MP3 files on my flash drive, and it still indexes it slowly. I suppose there's just 30sec timeout set by default, before MP3 playback can start. Why?.. CD start (after spin-up and before music starts playing) is slow (~4 sec). On another CD players playback begins immediately after spin-up. Annoyances Blinking when going to standby is annoying/useless. After switching from "Shuffle" to "Continue: playback, MP3 playing begins from the first MP3 filw written, and not from the album which was played. CD to MP3 export feature is useless at 128Kb/s rate. Stop does not stop, but rather pauses playing. This is OK for MP3, but I would expect CD disc to stop spinning after pressing Stop. Unit can only turn on via Power button: - Can't turn unit on by pressing Play button - Can't turn unit on by pressing direct disc button Forward/rewind buttons on main unit are small. Direct disc selection buttons are too close to open tray. It's minor thing, but shows that Sony engineers did not test the overall usability thoroughly. Repeat (No/1/All) should share the same button on remote. CD<->USB switching should share the same button on remote.

Excellent product from SONY

I bought this product 2 weeks ago from FUTURE SHOP. And it works so great, the sounds is excellent (specifically BASS). Very great in it's price! I can use the USB very well and it's sound very good and crisp! NICE DEAL.....
