Great product but unit has a heating problem

The unit itself (not the remote) tends to heat up pretty quickly and it gets pretty hot. If Sony could correct this problem, then this product would be the best Sony product I've ever owned.

Great Device

I bought it to stream off the net.....no issues. Watched the hockey game off of cbc's website...no lagging and a great picture. There are quite a few useful apps and the remote is awesome. I bought and returned quite a few other machines but I will be keeping this one!

Great Device, will get a second

I bought this device on sale last week to stream media to a bedroom that I didnt have a cable box in. I have since left it on my main tv as the deivce works great. The Picture in picture is great to use while I surf google chrome, and the plex and netflix streams all the media I need. Not sure why people had issues with media file types as Plex was able to play everything. The box also supports .mkv files which is nice as my PS3 doesnt. i do find google tv lacking some tv series content on the play store unlike Apple TV, and sometimes i find the touchpad on the remote not always perfect, but overall I think I will be purchasing another to use on my other tv. I really hope they support it with GoogleTV 4.0.

Not Worth It

The main problem with this device is the lack of apps. It runs Netflix beauituflly, with no lag, in crisp 1080p and great sounds. But that's it. Although the remote is well designed, the Chrome browsing experience is slow and clunky. I subscribe to a DNS service, so I have access to everything American, but there's nothing worth watching--no Hulu, no Vudu, no BBC iPlayer! Just a huge amount of useless garbage in the Google Play store. Plus the unit would not synch with my Shaw TV, even though all my components are Sony! I will try Hulu 3 or WD Live, as Google TV is definitely not ready for prime time.

Excellent Plex, very good device

Pros: - excellent Plex client, one of the best Netflix apps - has a very good AirPlay app - very nice remote, totally silent, works well with a Roku, ATV or Bell Fibe plugged into the HDMI in - can control TV, cable box, etc ... from remote (backlit which is great) - quality hardware ----/- Cons: Google TV has a questionable future, priced a bit high Not quite as simple as say a Roku or ATV but has really interesting apps such as ViMu (must have). Recommended for moderately tech capable people.
