I have had this player for over a year now, and I have been more then satisfied with it. It does playback divx avi's i have burned with nero to dvd-r Ridata, memorex, and even junk discs. It plays just about anything I put in it and the recording feature is simple. I think there are more editing features if you use a dvd+ rw instead of a -rw disc. You can use the re-writeable disc over and over and it will close off a standard dvd-r so it can be used on other players. I left the record on pause a few times over night and the motor didnt burn out like some cheap junk. I highly recommend this unit and like all dvd players and printers ask about the extra warranty.
