Support

Purchased this device a few weeks ago and had to call support for a minor setup issue. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get thru to support after several tries, different date and time to be fair. Any company which has a listed 24 hours for support and are not available is not for me. I wonder how good the product really is if their after support is not even available, some might not bother with this minor detail because of the price of the device but I will not settle no matter what I purchase. I returned the router the earliest I could. Good luck.

TP link wdr4300

I bought v 1.6 and installed ddwrt almost immediately. With this firmware almost any compatible router, becomes a fantastic router. Although I didn't experiment with the OEM firmware too much, it seemed fairly good for typical users, especially the USB functionality. The speed is great, but strangely the range of the signal is much weaker than what I would have expected. However with ddwrt, adjustments can be made to improve the range, and I used my old router as a repeater/bridge.

Performs as advertised

TP Link N750 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router performs adequately in my 3 story home. The router was suggested to me by Future Shop staff and, as someone who is a novice in the area of WiFi this router has been just what I needed. I can use it anywhere in my home with no trouble going from floor to floor and, even out to my patio with no noticeable drop offs in service.

Works well with Gargoyle 1.5.11 FW

I purchased this device (hardware version 1.6) based on the fact that it is compatible with version 1.5.11 of the Gargoyle OpenWRT-based FW which supports per-device quotas. Installation of the new FW was easy, and I can now control EXACTLY what devices can connect to our home network and how much data each user and device can access each month. The new FW even allows me to select the day that the quotas reset so that I can perfectly match my ISP's billing period. With this unit acting as the single access point for all devices in the house, I can also use its quota feature to verify my ISP's billing records.
