I have three, used for up to 1 year, Work Great

I use these drives as backups for my internal drives. I have two 4 TB drives and one 3 TB. They all work great. Oldest one has been used for a year, other two are 5 months and 1 month old. No issues. As a reminder, always make sure you have at least two copies of your data, any hard drive can fail at any time.

I am now sending my second WD back. The first one crashed the day after I bought it. They sent me a new one. 3TB unit. Now I will be waiting for the replacement. I lost a lot of Film Footage which I will never get back. I use my desktop as a back up also. I am glad I did that. I now going out to buy another H.D. external cause I need one bad. If the new W.D. hard drive replacement fails again. I guess I will not be buying any more.

Works like a Charm

I bought this WD 4TB drive so I could keep all my music, movies, and TV shows all in one place and stream over my network. So far the drive has worked perfectly and I have now bought a second drive to have secure backups. Great Drive at great cost.

Cheap enclosure case, use with caution

The hard drive inside this case is a WD 4TB Green Drive. I had heard a few bad things about these enclosures because of the encryption that is used between the drive and the enclosure... as a test I copied some files to the drive, then took the case apart, put the drive internally into my pc, then I tried to access the files... not surprisingly i could not access them... previous complaints were correct, this drive does some type of encryption even if you don't have it enabled making it impossible to access your files if the enclosure should ever fail. Basically you now have an extra worry... if the enclosure should ever fail, you will never be able to access the files on your hard drive again. So you have two points of failure now... the hard drive and the enclosure. Its still worth using as a backup, but make sure you don't rely on this as your only backup because you will not be able to access your files if you ever have to take the drive out and access it without the enclosure.
