Great Device

I Love my WD TV Live HD Media Player. I have had mine for six months now and I recently purchased another for a friend who saw me using mine and wanted one. I had another brand name first but it didn't play the formats such as avi that I record my movies in. I have also used it for Netflix videos. The remote is great. I attach a portable hard drive or a flash drive to the usb port and keep my movies and music on that. This device is a good value for the price.

Great box that will play ANY file format

This box does what it advertises. It will play most file formats and streams network media very well. The only thing that prevents me from giving this device a five star review is the fact that it is sloooowwww. If you want to use internet services get something else. If you want a box that will play all of your stored media then you can't go wrong.

Almost perfect device

Let me emphasize something you might not get from description: 1. You can attach any kind of file system to this media player with no problem, Windows (FAT, FAT32, NTFS), Apple, and I think Linux ones. And also direct from player you can delete, copy, move, rename files and so on! 2. Each storage attached is fully shared in the network, so you have a file server for $100! This can be shared in different ways also, Windows (smb), Apple or Linux style. Has 2 usb ports, both shareable. Even if you don't need a media player you can still use this as NAS. 3. You can attach network shared disks and use them like normal disks. 4. Most of the file formats are supported, subtitles built in or on separate file, multiple audio.

Great Value

Excellent device! streams very well, from internet and home network. it does as advertised. Most complaints I have read are probably due to poor internet connections. Excellent value for price.

A good product and a good deal

This media player works very well - if you take the time to review the instructions. If you invest the time to understand how it works, you will be very happy with the performance. This is the second WD TV box I have bought. The first one worked so well on my main TV I got another one for the second set. I use it with the MyBook Live personal cloud network drive - also from Future Shop. I can upload videos and photos from my cameras, or download and store videos and music from the internet, and play them any time. One WD TV box is connected to the wired network, and the other is set up for wireless. I set the address on both manually to "static" to match the settings on the wireless router. This way the connections are never lost, and everything performs flawlessly. The WD TV media player accesses it's 2 USB ports without any problems, and even works with a USB hub and multiple sticks. It also plays a variety of media formats. I am very happy with the quality and features of the WD TV unit, and would recommend it highly. Some basic knowledge of network settings is useful to avoid lost time and frustration.
