Powerful, productive, and pretty.

Powerful, productive, and pretty.

The latest release of Office features a whole new look, with a clean, sleek design that helps reduce visual clutter. It fits in perfectly with the redesigned Windows 8 "Modern" user interface, and since Windows 8 has been optimized to work with both touchscreens and standard mouse and keyboard layouts, the latest version of Office has the same flexibility. Whether you prefer to work on documents with your fingers on your Windows 8 touchscreen tablet or you’re more comfortable with a mouse and keyboard on your desktop computer, the Office interface will be comfortable and effective.

When you first open up an Office program you’ll be greeted with a landing page that gives you multiple options to help you take the first step. You can choose from a variety of pre-made templates that’ll show you some of the cool features Office is capable of, or easily access your current and recently opened documents.

SkyDrive is Microsoft’s online cloud storage service, and anybody can sign up to get 7GB of storage for free. The new Office integrates with your online SkyDrive account so you’ll have quick access to any of the documents you – or anybody who’s sharing documents with you – are storing on the cloud.

Since the new Office speaks online so well, it also makes it easier to integrate your social networks and contacts, including status updates and activity feeds. Sharing and collaborating on documents has never been so simple and powerful.

The new Read Mode organizes the text of your document into columns so it’s like reading an eBook, and Word will automatically bookmark where you are in the document so when you close it and open it again later, you’ll be right back in the same spot.
